installing racing seats?

i currently have these installed on my prelude.

what do you guys think about these installed on the 09?

id have to get custom brackets drilled and welded.

should cost me less than $100 to get those brackets done.

Looks good in your Prelude, especially suited for a 2 door coupe.

But racing seats in a TSX seems a bit out of character, just my opinion.

yea its def outa place. its more of a luxury car than a sports car.

maybe if you super/turbocharged it and really upgraded the suspension, then you could maybe put the seats in..

+1 for a supercharger / turbo before you throw in the seats.

I dont think it would be that bad...especially since the seats you have in your prelude are pretty subtle unlike some of the bride or sparco seats that are a full bucket seat. I thought about (just thought, I probably will not act on this) gettin some aftermarket seats in my TSX too... just something that will hug me a bit tighter, nothing too crazy...perhaps just a nice recaro one. I am reluctant because I will miss my leather and butt warmer capabilities though lol.

I say go for it and I dont think it will look THAT bad either since it is black in color

hey defconskylude, check out corbeau, they have some seats that are sports seats that don't look outrageously like a sports car. I've seen it on the 1G and it looks good.

you know you'll loose your the function of your air bags right? Your seats contain the OPDS senors and control unit, not to mention the side airbags... Bad idea unless you don't mind not having air bags and having a constant SRS light on.

I'm pretty sure that the RX8 R3 seats also comes with side airbags (see the tag on the side of the seat), wouldnt there be a way to connect that to the sensor on our car so we dont get the warning lights?

That is correct, and those seats will cost a pretty penny.
plus you'd need the R3 VIN + dealer "hook up" to get those seats.
I've test drove one before, and oh my those are by far the best oem seats (and some aftermarket seats) my ass has been in before.

oooooooooook, looked up the price for those seats. and i thought it would be around 800-1400 per seats, but boy was i wrong lol.
its $4000 for the seat back, $2000 for the cushion, and $630 for the adjustments. YES that is in US dollars.
Just get some corbeau like kowloon said, could probably buy 2 for 1500 or so lol.

I do love and will stand by Recaros, I purchased a set of sportlines installed the driver side and a five point, a week day later I ended up loosing control at 70mph and hit a ditch at est 60mph and then rolled three times... came out of it with only one cut from glass.

You are correct the r3's and all rx8's do come with side air bags but that's where the similarities END. For starters the air bag in the tsx and rx8 are completely different (size, placement on the seat etc...) and designed by two differant companies. As I said before the OPDS control unit is in the seat along with the senors that talk to the SRS unit and all the other SRS senors when you get into a crash. Bottom line you take out that seat you loose not just the function of two air bags (both seats) but the function ENTIRE SRS SYSTEM (ALL AIR BAGS) the SRS system will shut down and turn the SRS light on because of no signal coming from the OPDS unit and sensors.
