How much to repaint a TSX?

So.........there are no more cars with the color I wanted so I am thinking of just buying another color and then repainting the TSX later.

Does anyone know how much it costs to repaint an entire TSX?

Man, this is like asking "how much does it cost to eat a steak?" without providing any further details. There is the 99 cents/lb cubed steak, the $5.99/lb NY strip, all the way up to the Wagyu beer-fed massaged $150/lb ribeye.

How many coats of paint are you looking for? What kind of paint? What level of quality? Some people have painted their own cars with "success", which is a highly subjective term. As with most things in life, if you want it done well, then you'll pay for it.

To answer your question, it can cost several hundred dollars, to several thousands, to tens of thousands.

repainting your car simply because a color is not available right now is an extremely poor financial decision. My advice: mull it over for a bit and consider putting your money elsewhere.

How much is Vinyl in your country, in Germany its about 2500$
You can take a colour of your choice, and if you wanna sell your car you have two colours for the new buyer he can choose. And your paint is protected from little scratches and rockchips!

wrap it matte black or matte silver. it will cost a fraction of a GOOD repaint (shitty repaints are more headache than you realize, be warned)

you will have a unique finish that looks like nothing else on the road, its cheap, eye-catching, AND you can do it yourself with some patience. AND its reversible

all these cars are wrapped im pretty sure:

Aaaah, its called wrapping. I mean this with vinyl.
Good choice of colours, Killer. I saw a matt white wrapped BMW M5 at a Motorshow in Germany - awesome!

I think if you change the paint color you also have to change the title and I think the vin # includes the paint code in it.

well, to simply put it, its gonna cost a fortune. when i was a noob, (first got my car/license) i thought of repainting my car to white, then blacking out the roof. but soon realize that's a poor decision and began to love my color. so i say, be patient and wait for the color of your choice to come up! it'll save you money/time/headache later on!

You're not going to like the answer.

In order to properly change the paint color, the body shop needs to strip everything from the body - glass, trim, the entire interior to include carpeting, much of the bits and pieces of the engine bay and the wheels and wheel well linings along with lots of the suspension.

Then, like somebody has mentioned, there is the issue with the title. Your resale value will be non-existent.

Finally, the cost. Figure in the vicinity of $10k. Still worth it?

It's a bad idea. It will cost big $$$$$$ to match the quality of the factory paint. Like ceb said, you've gotta strip it down to the chassis to do it right. Very labor intensive.

It'll cost $99.95 - any car, any color. Just call Earl Shieb.

Oh no wait a second, they finally went out of business...after years and years of terrible paint jobs...

I had a 2001 GSR (with 12k miles) that had a battery explode next to it, ruined the finish. Without a color change, (no jambs, under the hood, etc) it was 4k.

I have a friend who *really* wanted a SRT-10 Indy (blue with white stripes). Bought a red one instead & repainted it. Every chip shows red underneath now.

Also consider under the hood (the engine bay) will be the original color. If I were looking to buy your car & there was a color change, it would *SCREAM* there was extensive damage prior to the repaint.
