Just got my TSX on 3/29
2009 Base 6MT Grigio/Ebony

Gross Cap Cost=$27388
36 Lease payments of $361.85 (plus 6% FL Tax = $383.56)
Total due at signing $660 (first month payment of $383.56 + $276.44)
I am very happy with the deal, three other dealers in the state said they could not match it!

"2009 TSX Featured Special Lease
$299.00 per month for 36 months. $2,499.00 total due at signing.
Includes down payment with no security deposit. Excludes taxes, titles and fees. For well-qualified buyers."
If you can get $2500 knocked off the MSRP price, which shouldn't be hard, then you should theoretically be able to get it for $299 a month with no money down, right?

I'm new here, looking to get an 09 TSX!
My current best offer is 28,995 for grigio tech pkg with ebony leather, wheel locks and color-keyed mud guards installed.
Another dealer is offering 29,075 on the same car with just wheel locks installed. They also offer service through 60k miles on scheduled maintenance (supposedly over a 2k value) for $1100 and free washes for life. The dealer said I would "only spend money on gas" until 60k.
Both of these offers are before taxes and tags. Any ideas on what I should counter with (or if I should even counter) before accepting a deal? Edmunds.com seems to think I'm getting a bargain.
Thoughts? Thanks a lot!

My concern is that this is the offer made by the dealer right off the bat. You would think I should be able to get a better deal based just on that, right?!
And what about that service deal? Worth paying an extra 1100 for??
#49
Huh. I was just looking on their website and they are offering a $299/month lease, with $2500 down. I built my own with the tech/auto and no options. Here is what the offers page at the end said:

The Acura Featured Lease is based on 10k miles, I think 63% residual and .00215 money factor. You have to add in destination, bank fee and then the rent charge (money factor) and then your local sales tax (varies with state and county). I really doubt you could get a new 2009 TSX Tech for $299 a month with nothing down with 10k miles a year. I know I got a great deal with mine.

Sounds a little bit better than my deal gqgiant! Very good!!!
Was your a 36 month lease? What is your tax rate? Mine is 6%. I had three other dealers tell me they could not match the deal I got: 36 months/15k miles/$383.46 a month/$276 down. It is a great time to lease an Acura right now!

The low lease payments are misleading, because when you factor in "gotchas" like mileage, down payment and residual, the total cost of ownership skyrockets.
Leasing a car is without question one of the most expensive ways to operate a vehicle, especially if you roll into new leases every 3-5 years stuck with a payment.
Given interest rates right now for people with good credit and factor in knowledge of what others are paying, you could conceivably get a better deal long term.
If you absolutely have to buy a new car every three years and dont mind having a payment, then I guess a fleece...I mean lease...is for you.

I bought the $14 Consumer Reports file and found the numbers almost matched the dealer's. It gives both tech and non tech. Transmission is irrelevant in pricing.
The MSRP is 29,920 or 33,020, including a $760 destination charge. I'm in the Seattle area. I'm only getting non tech numbers myself.
The dealer's actual invoice was 27,731. Consumer Reports was 27,582 or 30,424 again including dest. charge.
There is a $750 dealer incentive that they were willing to pass on to me. There is a $875 holdback they claim they never negotiate.
The Costco price was $650 over dealer invoice. The car they had that I wanted had a $371 "protection package" already installed, ugh. That made the final Costco price $28,753.
It took me about 5 minutes to convince him that wasn't going to fly and he offered 27,353. That is exactly 1400 less - he dropped the Costco 'benefit' and gave me the incentive.
Seattle only has 4 dealers within 300 miles and they are not known to be competitive.
I made the mistake of letting them know I wanted a manual and there are only 5 in the area. They other dealer that has them didn't respond to my email. Knowing that the prices for manual and automatic are the same, I should have established price for an automatic first, duh. I don't know if it would make a difference though.
I don't see the point of talking about taxes and fees since they vary by state, but our tax is <gasp> 9%, there is a legally capped $50 document fee, and probably less than $100 for tabs. I don't want to finance it, and they offered me so little for my '99 Accord trade in that I will sell it myself.
The $750 incentive runs out 5/4/9, but I suspect they'll just have another after that.

Just Purchased
Yesterday purchased an '09 Tech with wheel locks...splash guards...mats...trunk tray...door edge guards...for 29090 including destination
and all fees...plus tax. Was armed with several internet quotes. The car itself could've been had for 28800. Was a pretty easy deal and honestly feel might have left maybe $200. on the table but was pleased. Purchased in Annapolis, Md.

Last week I purchased an '09 tech with splash guard, wheel locks, trunk tray, winter mats, first two service (oil change and 7500 mile service) before tax for $28,500. I think I could have gone lower. I went to a very sleazy Paragon Acura dealer in Woodside, NY. I actually walked away when they initially offered me $31K. But they called me back and gave me everything I wanted! They tried to add the destination charge when we were about to close the deal, but I had nothing of that and threatened to walk away again. Didn't want to deal with them, but they were the only one with the Polished Metal w Taupe interior that I wanted in the metro area.

Is it legit to ask the dealer to throw in some accessories after the sale? Or at least ask for a discount? Looks like you guys are getting even better deals than I did, and I'd really love a trunk tray and maybe a cargo net, lol. Want the splash guards too, just don't want to pay $$ for them.
Wish I'd haggled for the accessories while negotiating the purchase price, but my nerves were frayed and I just wanted to get it over with!

When the sale is done, it's too late. You have to ask for everything in the sale process. This forum helped a lot in my negotiation in understanding how much I can ask for.
I really hated the whole new car buying process. It was very stressful. And I understand when you say your nerves were frayed.

Could you guys posting these awesome deals let us know what geographic region you're in? I've been calling around, and it looks like cheapest I could get for base non-navi, no extras, including TTL, is about $29,500 (and that's after calling several different dealers and haggling a good bit). This is in CT.

a lease can be a good deal. if you trade in every 3-4 years a lease make sense. if you keep your cars a long time, buy them. buying works out in teh long run b/c if you pay it off, take good car of it, and maintain it, you eventually have a paid off car that is stillrunning - so you can drive a car w/out a payment which is whwere you really start saving. in the end, a well maintained car, that is a dependable car, will run long after you have paid it off. it might have rattles, it might n ot be as modern/fun as you would want it to be, but it will run for "free" as long as you maintain it. maintaing a car is usually cheaper than payments.
assume you are spending $350/month on a lease. on a yearly basis that is 4200. if you pay of the casr in 60 months, do you really thinka 5 year old TSX is going to continually cost you 4200/year in repairs? no way. assume you drive 15k/year. after 60 months of payments, you have paid off teh car and it ony has 75k miles on it it. not brand new, but byno means old. you could easilyi drive that car another 75k. even if you only drive it another 3y ears, the car would only have 120k on it. those three years would cost you very very little.
the guy who leases, is ALWAYS paying a car payment.
leasing pays off in that after three years you ge a new car. it drives better, it feels bette,r it looks better. you don't have to do brake rotors, pads, as any tires, you willnever have any car "repairs", just maintenance.
the lease gets you into a better car for less money. so if you like cars, and prefer to have a nice one and don't mind paying a premium, you can ge ta better one for less money in the short term. but in the long run you will pay more.
a lot of peopple buy thinking they will keeep the car and "run it into the ground" only to find that they bouight too much car, and had to finance it for 72-84 months, and then their warranty expries, and then they are making car payments AND repairs/upkeep and they get scrweed b/c they bought too muhc.
on the lease, you can "buy too much" but you are oly buying the payment. you never have to do repairs/etc.
each has it's pros/cons.
