Born and bread New England. I don't necessarily look forward to it but once Winter is here, it's not too bad. It's all pretty well predicted.
Definitely prefer this weather as opposed to tornados, hail and some of the other severe weather seen in the midwest. Then you have mudslides, fires, earthquakes and such on the West coast.

$1300 is a lot more than just a block heater. might as well just rent a garage space.

Depends. A block heater only works when you have access to an outlet. This allows you to run the heater for hours without wear on any engine parts and actually heats the inside of your car.

The Acura remote start is what, $500? That causes wear while the supplemental heater actually reduces wear and emissions because you are starting a warm engine.

Once I get an estimate, I'll put one in my wife's car. She parks in an exposed lot during the day.
