How good is Maintenance Minder?

Maintenance Minder, How many of you guys follow it?

I have a friend telling me to get my first oil change at 500, second at 1,000, third at 3,000 and then every 3,000 miles going forward? Should I listen to him or should I just follow the maintenance minder?

just follow maintenance reminder. your car isn't 60 years old, and besides, the manufacturer wouldn't set the reminders that way if it would damage your car lol

that's an overkill of oil changes. is your friend a mechanic who does the oil changes for you...? might want to look for other friends...

Sigh. From last week. Give this to your friend and tell him to read it and weep.

Thanks guys. This is my first new vehicle and just wanted to break it in properly!

Your input is very much appreciated and I'll just follow the maintenance minder and I'll also RTFM

ceb your links are always hard to see. I was confused at first what you were saying until i hovered over the text. You should underline or bold or something.

Thanks. This is the only forum that doesn't highlight them automagically. I thought I was the only one not seeing the links.

Here you go again

Do you guys see that as a distinctive link now?

Thanks. I'll do that from now on out.

I have +90,000 miles on my 06 TSX and I follow the M.I.D. schedule for all the maint. The two things I did early was change the Tranny oil in the 5AT at 30/60/90,000 miles and change the cabin air filter every spring instead of waiting for the M.I.D. (have K/N air filter and I clean every spring).

To prove your 'friend' wrong, just do a UOA when you change your oil according to the TSX maintenance minder. No doubt it will show that your oil still has life left in it (oil monitoring sensors are set to be conservative.)

(and yes, that big font is a link )
