It's so stupid, back in the 50's cars just came with hood springs, now, not only do they not come with them, when they do, they are the gas struts, that eventually leak, and then don't work anymore. And you only get them when you spend more money on a car. I'll keep the support rod, seems an easy option that won't wear out.

The V6 does have hood struts (2 of them).

I think some folks in here have fitted them to the L4...

They are so easy to install...literally took me 10 secs...

I believe Savclaude tried fitting these in a regular TSX. I forwarded him a few pictures of the strut location with measurements to help make the brackets

i am assuming that the i4 doesnt have the same mounting points? cause if they did sounds like a straight install

Correct, someone on the boards asked for pictures for the mounting points and brackets. He was planing to make them for his CU2.

Here are some of them

JDMaccord3.5, could you get some additional images and dimensions of where the strut mounts to that bracket in relation to the holein the cowl cover to the right of the bracket? Also how far the pivot sits off of the strut tower?

thanks!

Would love a set of these if they are ever made for a regular TSX.

I hate the hood prop it gets in the way.

Wanted to take on this project, then almost got my neck cut off this weekend from bad gas struts on a TL. I'll stick to the tried and true prop stick. It doesn't look as cool, but it won't kill me if used correctly.

Long-armed ice scraper doubles as a hood prop.

Cold weather hooptie owners know what I means!
