Highest Mileage 2nd Gen TSX?
#41
Hi everyone, first off, this is my first post on this site! I just purchased a red 2013 TSX Special Edition a couple weeks ago. So far I LOVE this car! It rides and drives great! The only things I dont care for are the lack of tech (I know I couldve gotten a tech package, but is supposed to be a luxury car), and the easily scratchable plastic. As it sits, it has 39k miles. I drive about 32-35k a year, and I know that Acura has a reputation for being extremely reliable, but how many miles do you have on your 2nd Gen TSX? What do you love/hate about it?
Im new, so please excuse me if there is another thread for this. I did not find one in my search.

09 Tech Package w/ Manual transmission. 138k miles. Only real problem was this year when it developed a loud very annoying clicking sound whenever I turned the steering wheel. This was an out of warranty manufacturing defect described in an Acura TSB. Dealer quoted $1500 for repair. I complained to Acura saying they should extend warranty as it is a known manufacturing defect. Eventually Acura worked with dealer and got it done for under $900.
Otherwise, just normal maintenance items.......Car turns 10 in November and I'm feeling a new car itch, but not sure when......

I have a 2010 with 250,000km (155,000 miles) and it has had zero issues. No problems at all - just regular maintenance. Still drives beautifully and still lots of fun.

Racer
2010 Tech bought on July 4 weekend 2010.
Just turned 150k. Still drives very well with regular maintenance including timing belt, brakes, tires, oil. Nothing out of the ordinary wear and tear.
I had the A pillar that disconnected from the clips but saw on the forum using some type of cement worked for someone. That did the trick and has held for the past 8 months.
This will be my last winter as I’m looking into buying a more updated car with the latest tech. Still eyeing Audi or maybe the new G70 if it ever hits dealers. I might keep it as a “driving to work” car during the week.
This has been my most reliable car since 1995.

Advanced
2012 Wagon just rolled 98k miles. Generally, it's been flawless. The only work I've had to do is general fluids, tires, spark plugs, resurface brake disks on front, replace brake disks on back, and new pads all around.

2009 TSX 217,000 Miles
Keeping this thread alive since our 2g TSXs are aging
I'm very happy with my 2009 TSX. The car has been e extremely reliable. No mods and I do all the maintenance.
In addition to the usual brake pads, fluids and tune_ups, I've replaced the a/compressor & condenser, all 4 wheel bearings, shocks, and driver's side axle
shaft and rear taillight bulbs
That's it.
My TSX is still running strong.
😁

I've got a 2010 TSX i4 with 150k on it.
Owned it since 2014, only major repair is I had to have the timing chain done a couple of weeks ago. Bought it at 125k, always made a loud grinding noise on a cold start, though it never really seemed to affect driving it.
With the timing chain done now, the difference is extremely noticable (it had this weird lag when you'd gun it, completely gone now).
Here's to another 5 years with this thing, love this car.

Interesting how there was acceleration lag from the timing chain. Usually they don't go bad.
Anyway, the car is great and that's all that matters!

I am at 110k. Owned since 70k.
Needed rear calipers a couple months ago because one seized....New slotted and drilled rotors with performance pads, Megan coilovers around 90k. Other than that regular maintenance.
I plan on doing spark plugs soon.
I am curious about the timing chain thing... Is this necessary around 100k?

I’m at 160k. 2010 i4. Bought it with 36k miles in 2013. No issues whatsoever. Just regular maintenance.
RL brake conversion
Tein flex Z
valve adjustment at 130k
replaced LCA bushings
replaced sway bar bushings
SPC rear 3 piece camber kit
will slap a MercRacing TVS 900 supercharger on it this weekend.

Are valve adjustments required? Cost to do so? I am at 120k
#65
I’d say it’s not required. On the k24z3 head the exhaust valves tend to get tighter overtime and the intake get looser. Which just means the exhaust valves may not close all the way and the intake may not open all the way. Loosing a little bit of Economy and performance.
I don’t know cost as I did it myself. But I wouldn’t advise the average person to do it themselves. It takes a little more mechanical experience than a person who just changes their own oil or brake pads.
