Feeling' better about the TSX v. BMW
#41
I'll take a high revving n/a engine vs a turbo any day, the only bmw I would drive is the is an e46 m3 and the v10 m5... now that everything is turbo I wouldn't consider buying one even if they gave it to me for half off. Thats why I will stick to Honda products plain and simple.

I do like the 330i, it was 260 something HP NA and it handled like it was on rails. Wish BMW kept continuation of this instead of replacing it with the 335i.

Updating this thread, because yesterday I tried a new 328i with xDrive and the Variable Sport Steering option. (It also had the M Sport package, which allowed it to come in the gorgeous Estoril Blue finish. Wow.) I was eager to try the VSS, because some on BMW forums have stated it gives the steering a "real BMW" feel. Well, IMO, its steering felt exactly like the 328i Sport Line I tried back in April: light, numb, and isolated from the road, even in sport mode. Maybe the AWD system contributed to this, so I want to test a RWD Sport Line with the VSS. Nevertheless, I was again shocked that my TSX actually has better steering feel and feedback than a 3 Series; this was certainly NOT the case when I chose the TSX over the previous 3 Series gen (E90).

i love turbos, ill never sell my RDX. I actually really like the new 328i, it's so much torquier than the previous 328i and you can't even tell it's a turbo. it's not as smooth as previous 3L i6 engine but it's smoother than the K24 in the TSX. If ILX or TSX 6MT was available with tech package And beige leather interior i would take the TSX anyday.

Not sure the BMW engine is inherently any smoother than the K24, but it feels smoother because it's so isolated, with less sound and vibration reaching the driver. BMW had to minimize four cylinder NVH for the luxury segment, but I'd actually prefer to feel and hear it a bit more -- a sports exhaust would definitely be in order!
