everyone complains about the 2nd gen TSX being heavier, but...

i just opened the hood for the first time today and i can safely say it weighs significantly more than any other hood i have ever lifted in my entire life. i'm guessing that this extra heft/strength is throughout the car. it's no secret that the TSX crash ratings are insanely good, and for an extra ~150 pounds, i think it's worth it.

thoughts?

agreed. this is one of the main reason my parents bought me this car; for its safty.

and yeah, when i lifted up the hood i was supirse by how heavy it was. however...kinda off topic but...cant believe it needs the rod to support it. i mean, come on!

thicker and heavier hoods have little to do with structural rigidity of the car in a front end crash. In fact, a lighter hood is preferred in a crash so that the force of the impact will be channeled to the crumple zone and the hood will not impede the force distribution to the ACE structure.

V6s have the struts by the way and I think Acura pulled an el cheapo on the 4 cylinders. My dad's 09 sonata has struts for the hood AND the trunk.

i don't complain that is heavier. in fact i dont' care.

I will complain that it is heavier, but still feels like a tin box when you close the doors, the trunk, the hood, etc.
