Emergency Fuel/Gas?
Don't know if this thread had been discussed but here i go...
Lately, I just drive until when really needed, not when fuel notice comes up but like when the range is 10-20 miles.
I do get around 23 mpg in my 13 TSX but 75% of time is in the city so i think it's good mileage per gallon.
In typical, do you guys carry any types of emergency fuel product or have extra gas in a bottle in the car?
Should I carry one? or should I change my habit and never let that fuel light come up??
thank~

Don't run low like that, it's bad for the fuel pump.

Is there a good reason why you wait until the range is 10-20 miles?
Keep in mind the range is only a computer generated estimate. I wouldn't depend on it if you have a job or responsibilities that require you to be on time.
I may be wrong, but it may be unsafe to transport gas in your vehicle (outside your gas tank). I think the vapors, even when stored in a proper gas container, could be a fire hazard.
As the previous poster mentioned, gas helps keep your fuel pump cool.

I have an 08 TLS and typically run until I am in or around 400 miles on the tank. The light on my car comes on with about 3 gallons of fuel left in the tank - so fairly conservative. I know this because I used to fill up right when the light came on and all I could get into the tank was +/- 14 gallons (3G TL has a 17 gallon tank). So I know I can very easily get another 60-90+ miles on that tank.
Long story short if you typically have the same driving habits and routes you can figure out how many miles to the tank you can get.
My $0.02 but I do agree you should not run your tank too low as the consequences aren't worth it - especially if you have abundant gas stations in your area.

Better keep a bike in your trunk.
0 miles left is ~1 gallon left in tank.
0 miles left is ~1 gallon left in tank.

Admittedly, I have never owned a TSX, but assuming this is a family characteristic.
Again not recommending running super low either.
And one other PS - I would NEVER recommend carrying extra fuel in the trunk or any cargo area of a vehicle - NEVER. And especially in the Summer months where gas fumes expand so rapidly in the heat. Very bad idea - fill you tank earlier is the simpler/safer solution

Not my experience. I have somewhat recently owned an 04 TL, an 08 TLS an 07 MDX and an 09 Accord and all light up the low fuel warning way in advance of 1 gallon left. As I mentioned above, Honda/Acura is very conservative. There are other threads calling out the same here on AZ.

Why?
Running low is bad for the car.
Carrying spare gas is potentially suicidal in this weather
As an emergency manager I can only advise never going below a half tank. It isn't as if going to the gas station is such a chore and you can save a few bucks if you fill you when you are passing a cheap (but busy) gas station.

I always gas up at Sam's club whenever I am in the area even if I have 1/2 or 3/4 of a tank. Much easier since it is along the way and it only takes 5-10 mins to fill up compared to making one trip just to gas up with the light on. Sam's is usually cheaper by 10-25 cents a gallon compared to Chevron or Phillips 66.

As I recall, CO also suggests always having at least a half tank of gas - but then you've got those funky weed laws too.

Maybe the black car behind it shot it. We can't see behind him so he could have been holding it back there. However if this is the case, then a green shell would have also worked since he was directly ahead of him.
