DRL...who's running what LED in there?

Seems many LED's note that they shouldn't be used as a DRL due to lower Volts

Thanks in advance.

I like these in my 05 TL fogs!!

i have the ijdmtoy LED kit in mine.

High beams are basically nonexistent. Nice bright white DRL though. Beats the stock bulbs. Attempting to turn on the high beams dims my fogs if theyre on at the same time.

well that sucks no High beam functionality.

Maybe just some real bright fogs than can be the ticket for lack of brights. The HID's & good fogs should be a lot of light.

The LEDs you have from gtlightingusa in your 05 fogs are BRIGHT and perfect for DRL/high beam.

I run them for my DRL, and at night it is bright, like high beams.
I should note that no, i don't drive at night with DRLs, i was only seeing how it looked.

You just need to buy a harness from ijdmtoy for it to work.

Any "tower" LED you buy for DRL will be dim, such as the tower LEDs that come in the ijdmtoy kit.

That's why I opted to buy just the harness from iJDMToy and the Cree LED bulbs from gtlightingusa.

i have some vleds. they are about a year old.

there is a high beam. mine are like 1800 lumens. they have brighter ones now,

you WILL need a resistor to turn out the warning.

i would buy the leds where you get the best warranty. buy the brightest ones they make for 9005. that are in your budget.

yes you will have both. i was commenting on the 'NO USABLE high beam post'.

and yes those resistors work. and are pnp. just put them somewhere not touching any other wires or plastic as they get super hot.

so it seems v led's has something maybe different?
9005 PLUG N' PLAY DRL DAYTIME RUNNING LIGHT MODULE | 1 EACH

These seems to supply 14.5v to the led no matter? So then the DRL would be very bright at all time. DRL mode full power & Bright mode full power

Does the one from ijdm, just solve the error code issue, So allow lower volts during DRL mode(dimmer) and higher volts at Bright light use?

what about these off ebay?
http://www.ebay.com/itm/9005-Load-Resistor-50W-Error-Free-Canbus-Adapter-Fog-Light-DRL-Daytime-running-/360913127141?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&hash=item54081946e5&vxp=mtr
i see some are 50w 8ohm and others are 50w 6ohm? work the same as ijdm??

Thanks,

For the resistors i used TWO of these

9005 6OHM 50W IN-LINE LOAD RESISTORS + MOUNTING PLATES | 1 PAIR - DRL/Fog Light Resistors - Resistors

but you could use one of these ^^^^^^ and one of these

ACURA TL DRL DRIVER SIDE IN-LINE 25 OHM 25W LOAD RESISTOR WITH MOUNTING PLATES 9005 | 1 EA - DRL/Fog Light Resistors - Resistors

the second one wont get as hot.

then for the leds get ones with the best warranty that you can afford.

farking vleds wants 200 for the 3000 lumen. but they will garantee them for a year.

gt lighting seems like the shizz.

and get anyone's resistors that match those specs......one is 6ohm 50w the other is 25ohm 25w

vleds and others do add the ends so its all PnP if that matters.

you dont need that drl box from vled.

My DRL / Highbeams are VLEDS VX2 CREE LED bulbs. Very bright for drl. It's been in my car for abut a year and handled the hot Houston weather like a champ.

I'll break it down for you.

You need to buy two things:

Acura Honda Lexus High Beam LED Daytime Running Lights Decoder Modules

Option R2.

And:

DRL gets supplied 6V power, so it's dim.

That's why if you throw your CURRENT DRL halogen bulb into a socket that's 12V or when you switch to high beam (12V), it'll be much brighter.

What the harness does, is two things.
It supplies your DRL FULL power. Makes that 6V into 12V.
It also cancels out the error on your dash.

If you think about it, that means your DRL will be the SAME brightness as your high beams, because both applications are supplied 12V power.

Why do you want FULL power for your DRL?
LEDs can be difficult to see in direct sunlight.
Plus, who doesn't want to have bright DRL lol

Just don't be an idiot and drive with DRL on at night.

r2 is just resistors ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^just saying

if you want 12v+ all the time gonna need a relay at a minimum.

Good catch

In that case, get the R3.

You lost me...
You said prior that you have a low beam (DRL) 6v or whatever and then a high power Bright beam(12v+) with the decoder...
Acura Honda Lexus High Beam LED Daytime Running Lights Decoder Modules

SO the link just supplies 12V at all time so the DRL is the same brightness as the High beam?

And run DRL at night? Doesn't the DRL go off when headlights go on? The when you flip bright switch they come on at full 12v?

Maybe I got too technical, but that's what you asked for when I already told you what to buy but you insist to learn more lol

Understand how the stock lighting is

DRL - 6V
High beam - 12V

What the harness R3 does is makes the DRL 12V.
Same brightness as high beams

And yes the DRL turns off when you switch on low beams, it was just a side note not to drive with DRL at night, even though I know you don't lol

lol...yeah txt is tough to follow.

I want the DRL for daytime at 6v or so I assume. Or is the LED just to dim at that level?
Then I want to have High beam function (12V) when I need brights!!

In short:
Trying to basically accomplish what the factory halogen bulb does but with LED and no error messages if that makes sense.

If you're fine with the bulb running at half brightness for DRL, get the option R2 harness.

If you want full brightness DRL, get option R3.

Is there a noticeable difference in brightness? hells yeah.
Most LED DRL bulbs running at 6V you won't be able to tell are on in sunlight.
The gtlightingusa bulbs are probably bright running at 6V, i don't know.

Keep in mind the Option R2 is meant for your TSX.
Option R3 is meant for the 3G TL, because bi-xenons.
Will your car blow up using R3? No. Technically the R3 harness will work on your car too because all it is doing is using a relay to deliver 12V from the battery to the bulbs.
I don't know why they don't list option r3 for your application.

IMO run them with R2.

I have 1800 lumen bulbs and the drl will blind you if you look into it. plenty bright in sunshine, etc.

when LEDs werent very bright the 12v/12v option was fine. with these hi power LEDs its seriously a waste....IMO.
