If it was designed to do it, then why would you even bother applying the parking brake when you're on a hill?

Let the car settle
Foot on the brake and hit P

this way the weight of the car is on the parking brake and not the transmission....
Extra steps that aren't necessary. My foot is on the brake the entire time.

Then why put it in Neutral ?

we apply the parking brake to have the weight on the ebrake....if your foot is on the brake all the time might as well pull the ebrake in D/R and shift into P

Ok, let me get this straight.

If I am parking on a slope, my car facing down the hill, and I want to back up into the space (meaning that I am reversing my car up the hill), I should always lift the parking brake up while the car is on "R" and reverse into the spot? This way, the car does not lurch and hurt the tranny?

I'm not being sarcastic. I was taught by my father that the parking brake is only to be engaged after you park the car.

Ideally your method works if you turn the engine off after shifting in the neutral. Keep the foot brake engaged the entire time, then shift into park. Then ebrake.

I assume any other method would put a small amount of stress on the drivetrain.

yes I have done that....you can stop, pop the ebrake, shift into reverse (your foot in on the brake this full time), gas her up a little, release the ebrake....

not really Sir...it works all the time...imagine this:

you stop on a slight incline...the car is stopped in 1 spot coz of the foot brake...then according to your method, you shift into N, engage ebrake, foot is still on the brake, push to P....so you went from weight on the foot brake to weight between transmission and ebrake....

now try this,
you stop on a slight incline...the car is stopped in 1 spot coz of the foot brake...then according to my method, you shift into N, engage ebrake, foot is OFF the brake, let the car be stopped in one spot because of the ebrake, push to P....so you went from weight on the foot brake to on the ebrake....

TL;DR to all of the above.

foot on brake, shift to Sport, ebrake on, turn key to accessory, get out of the car.

it'll take someone very smart to steal your car because the car will be off and wont turn on until you shift it back into park and fully turn the car off, but the car also wont drive until you turn the car on =)

whaaaaaaaat the fuuuuuuuuuuuk??? this i didnt see coming. its very different ill admit...i like it actually.....BUT!!!!!!!!! u cant lock ur car so someone who is not very smart can come and screw with it....steal stuff from inside or just decide to ruin ur leather because he can...never happened to me but i only need it to happen once before i kill all my neighbors....lol. on a side not, leaving it in S mode, is that the same thing as leaving it in gear for a manual?

leaving it in S mode is the same as leaving it in D mode, so yes, auto tranny would be stuck in 1st just like the manual.

also, you can lock it from the inside, then use the spare or valet key to open the door

you can't pull the key out unless you shift the car to park, and you also can't turn the car on unless you shift the car to park. if you don't know the TSX, and cars in general, you'll give up. like the idiot that tried to steal a car but got caught cause it was manual and he couldn't get into 1st gear

yes your battery would likely be dead, alot.

umm pyro...consider someone who opened your car....the car alarm goes off....

the thief pushes the car into auto takes the key out presses the unlock button....alarm is off....and he has the key to your car....honestly if you were being sarcastic then its my bad....if you were not being sarcastic and leave the key inside the car "hoping" its a dumb thief who doesnt push the car into park, i wish you all the best....

Good. Finally got it lowered. Been doing small things here and there to it. Next big thing is probably going to be a new headunit with GPS and backup cam since I didnt get the tech upgrade.

I always use the parking brake to avoid the parking "lurch" and in case other drivers run into my car and send it flying... My question is, if your car gets towed, does it do any damage while the parking brake is engaged with the car being dragged away?

yea i thought the general consensus was to leave the car in 1st gear with parking brake engaged, or reverse plus parking brake if parked on a hill facing down. the best was a story about a guy who got a remote start on his manual car, left it in first gear, then used remote start to start the car, car was in gear, just went straight to a wall and kept bouncing off the wall till it burned out
