dead battery?
So i park outside the doctors clinic waiting for my mom with the key on position 2. I was listening to XM with the fan on.....an hr and some change later my car wouldn't start. I would try to turn it on and it would splutter like it was trying to turn on but it couldn't. I called Roadside assistance and as soon as they booked the local service company, my car decides to turn on. I was scared shitless as I am a paranoid person. Was my battery dead? The engine spluttering was a little wierd, it seemed like it wanted to start but couldn't. I drove the car for another hour to let the alternator charge the battery. It runs fine now, so I'm hoping that it was just a dead battery. Was it?

it's a 2010..when my mom came out, i decided to turn the key to position 1 then shift to position 3(turning car on). Engine refused to rotate, and then it sat for a while and it finally turned on. I don't remember clearly if it was a splutter, it just made a noise that sounded like it didn't have enough power to start. 1 hr and 30 minutes of xm radio and fan probably did kill the battery tho..cheap ass oem batteries

Don't know about the 2G, but 1G TSXs have really weak OEM batteries. You really shouldn't leave it on like that to listen to music or it will die, like you experienced. Unfortunately, you'll need to upgrade your battery if you do that regularly.

I already replaced my 2009 TSX oem battery once under the warranty.

I have experienced the same issue too, where do you hear that sputter noise. It happened to me I would say 2 or 3 times and it comes from the left side under the vsa button i hear a noise. However, when I checked my battery voltage it looks good 12.13 some thing like that.

I was waxing my car one time and listening to the radio... afterward I couldn't start the car after multiple attempts. Tried one last time and it started.

If you want to listen to the radio, leave the key at position 1.
Position 2 will turn on the fan (including the radiator fan) as well as your daytime running lights (if light switch is set to Auto). An hour with radio, fan and DRL running will kill most battery.

Plus you have energized the entire ignition system, fuel pump, etc. Essentially position 2 is the car running position after start and you should never leave the key in this position for extended periods when the car is not running. If you are just listening to music, position 1 is the proper key location.

No I did not have any radio on this happend to me when I attempted to turn on. I was on my way to work no music nothing just unlocked the car, put the key in turn it 1 then 2 and wait for the fuel gauge indicator rise up then turn to 3 to start right at that moment I herd sputter noise coming from underneath the dash on my side I would say where the fuse compartment is. So I turned back to posistion 1 took the key out and insert again did the same thing then no noise from the bottom left side of the dash.

Running the battery that long will drain the capacity. But the battery works on a chemical reaction, if you let it sit for a little while some of the capacity will return. Don't ask me exactly how. So if you let it sit it may recover enough to get the car cranked over. This is what happened in your case. If not jumping it will do the trick. If you haven't damaged the battery it should recharge from the alternator and be fine.

Just an FYI, the DRL's shouldn't come on unless the car is gear and the emergency brake is off.
