Cracked diver's side mirror
Hey guys so I think the hurricane took out my divers side rearview mirror. It looks like just the glass is cracked (it still has power! ). However, is it possible to replace just the glass?? A quick search seems to show only complete units for sale for 400+

I found this part number. 76253-TL0-305 It says MIRROR SUB-ASSY., L. (COO)(FLAT)(HEATED). Is this the mirror? I am assuming left pertains to driver's side. (why dont they just say driver's and passenger versus left and right )

my guess is because "driver side" is different in other countries..

I remember looking up this video so it might be helpful in how to remove the old glass piece. It's for the passenger side, but I'd assume it's the same process.
I replaced my PASSENGER side mirror once and the part number was "76203-TL0-305 MIRROR SUB-ASSY., R. (R1400) (COO)(HEATED)." So more than likely the L will be your (USA) drivers side. Maybe call the parts dept. at your dealer to confirm.

If you can live with the cracked glass a while, you might want to look for a European left side (slightly curved - almost like our passenger side) or a British left side (in that case passenger or "off-side") with a bit more curve.
While not technically legal, you may find it better to make the blind spot dissappear - but remember that objects in mirror are closer than they appear.

Most mods are either illegal or will cause warranty issues. You need to weigh the risks against benefits and determine if you are willing to accept the risks.
In some ways, some of our laws are written to protect the stupidest amongst us against themselves. That brought us things like the print "objects are closer..."
The intelligent say "got it, I know that a curved mirror will screw with distances so I'll account for that but I'd rather go one step farther in eliminating the blind spot. I will continue to be careful."
The same holds true for clear, stick on headlamp protectors. While the law prohibits any type of headlamp covers, a clear protective film makes sense to me - as long as you change it out if it gets damaged.
The bottom line is simple
Understand the laws and the reasons why the laws were enacted (if not obvious.)
Determine the enforcement of the law and the potential impact on other drivers.
If your mod can have a negative impact on others then don't do the mod.
If the impact is only to you then determine if the risks outweigh the benefits.

Thanks for the replies. I realized the stupidity of my question on my way to work (the drivers side vs left and right) LOL.
I ordered a mirror online. I was considering the convex euro mirror but decided against it since my car's inspection is coming up so I need to get it fixed sooner than later.
Thanks or the video blutsx...it def helps since I know the mirror is attached with clips, but I'm always scared of breaking clips.
