Clearing out headlights?

Hi guys,
I'm new to acurazine, just letting that out there. I was curious to know what users meant when they say, "Clearing out their headlights." I want to make my headlights look close to this and was wondering how to get it done. Would a body shop be able to do this and for how much? I got this photo from ed_423, so all credit goes to him.

You can do it yourself if you want to risk it. Throw your headlights in the oven, open them up and take the orange reflector out. Thats what "clearing" your headlights mean, gives it a cleaner look. Theres a diy on here somewhere you can follow

It's a lot if work to get it right. Just hit the body shop and have them do it. You are looking at treating, sanding, buffing adding clear coat and uv light to cure. It's a pain in the ass. Body shop hooks you up for 50 bucks depending on how bad your headlights are.

Thanks for the replies, do you guys think that I could get it done at a Auto Shop? Because I'm not sure if I am willing to take the risk of doing it on my own. Doing it by myself would be my last resort.

You should have used my picture instead. It looks way better than Ed's shitty picture. Lol

Ps- Ed painted portions of the inside black. So keep that in mind when you do it. Yours won't look like his if you just take the amber reflector out.

acktl quoted me 120 i think if you just give him the headlights. if you have him take it out it's an additional 40 i believe. i just never got around to doing it yet.

I got mine done a while back in a nearby shop for 110 (took the headlight to them). Here are a few links to my old threads. There are a bunch of pictures and some switchback information i recommend you read first if you do go with those bulbs

I think you're the only one Claude lol.

However Ed had amber lights for a while after he cleared them. It looked pretty good actually. The orange looked good in there without having the orange reflector.

They've held up extremely well actually. I haven't had a single issue with them, not even condensation getting inside the lens. I've had them about a year now.
