Clear Bra

Ok, so yesterday, 1 month and 1 day from delivery, AND my birthday no less, and I get the first "sand blasting" on the interstate...and you guessed it, nicks in my hood! ARG

I'm looking for input on the clear bra. There aren't many places in VT/NH that install this stuff. I'm worried about the fade, does it really change the look? Will this be a bad thing for trade in? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

you can get a hood and fender kit on ebay for 100 bucks the tsx hood is very simple to install just make sure you give the car a good wash before you install it i have done it to all my cars 07tl-s, 09 audi a4, 09 mdx, 2010 tsx.

I'm looking into installing a clear bra here soon.... One major nick in my hood that's already rusted over... I'll keep you posted.

I work with someone who's husband is in the auto detail biz and am actively seeking out someone who will install a clear bra on my '09 TSX. If and when it actually happens I will let you know how it goes....

I was quoted $495 for a partial hood for the clear bra.

When I bought my 06 TSX, I had already set up an appointment at the tint place I used before to get tint and a clear bra. It was Venture Tape. So before I even got it home I had it protected. The package was not cheap. After about 2.5 years the clear bra began to look cloudy. It is really hot down here in TX and I guess the product just couldn't stand it. But it came with a full warranty and it was replaced by the tint place for free. They tell me it is a new formulation and it does look thicker.

If you don't keep your car clean you will notice a difference. You can wax it just like the car, but you need to cover the edge or else you will pack wax in that joint and it is hard to clean. On the plus side there is not a single chip in my paint after about 4 years.

I don't think there is anything perfect as far as a clear bra. It is a trade off, you don't want rock chips... you need some physical protection... it will show, nothing is invisible. But when it is clean it is very hard to see.

one more thing.... before I got the new bra put on I pulled off the old bra since I wanted to polish the car in case there was some difference in the paint under the bra. There was no difference at all, the bra was on pretty well but could be removed with some effort.

I just had my acura dealer install a clear bra for me.

Did it for 200 + tax, great installation. You can barely notice its on and I have a CBP.

Thank you for your responses. My brother and his girlfriend own a vinyl business...neither had heard of this stuff. However I did ask, and Julie said she wouldn't charge me for installation! Is there a recommended brand? I've seen 3M/scotchguard. I'm sure some are better than others. Thanks in advance.

I have my front bumper clear bra'd (and mirrors, headlights, foglights, and right in front of my trunk), got it done about a year and a half ago, still looks perfect. Didn't do the hood (didn't want the line, and wasn't going to do the whole thing), and of course I got a big chip on my hood, sigh. I would recommend it to anyone.

I'd go with VentureShield. 3M will yellow over time, quicker than VS.
