Buying from different types of dealerships (used vs new)

I found a few TSXs within 100 mile radius and being on a work vacation (teacher) for the next week I need to pull the trigger as my truck is giving out.

I found a couple TSXs that have the color and trim I want.

One is located at a one-owner used car dealership with a really great reputation (autolenders - NJ) about a few miles from my house. Only thing is its a 2011 with 37k on it. Thats a bit much and a bit old however I have asked before about higher mileage TSX's and you guys seem to feel that it shouldn't be a problem. This dealership, like a carmax, is one-owner, and they apparently put it through a 108 point inspection and say that if anything were to be wrong they won't even put it on their lot. Not sure how true it is, but the online reviews are rave and a few friends had great experiences buying their car there.

I found another TSX in a dealership over an hour away in another state (PA - outside of Philly). This is an Acura dealership and they too, according to online reviews, are rave. This TSX is a 2012 with only 18k miles on it. However, I am not sure they are too concerned with quality for their used cars like an Autolenders / Carfax is. Why I think this is because I went to my local Acura dealership to see a TSX and it had a dent in the back and some scratches so the price was reflective of that and the dealership wasn't going to fix it. Autolenders / Carfax seem to have near pristine used cars with no dents / dings.

Any thoughts? Should I not be concerned with the year / mileage that I have listed? I know it doesn't matter if its a 2011 or 2014 as it is the same car, but I just think its been out in the open and driven that much longer.

I would assume that the one at the Acura dealership is CPO so you'd get an extended warranty. Each Acura dealership is different so one that has dented cars shouldn't be indicative of all Acura dealerships. I've seen dents at CARMAX too.

37k is not "high mileage" for a 2011, but I'd pick the newer car with fewer miles. How is pricing?

Pricing, oddly enough, is about $500 off. 11' with 37k is 20500. 12' with 18k is 21,000. With the end of the year I feel I could negotiate a better price.

Comparatively speaking, that '12 looks more attractive.

It's worth a drive though. I test drove a pre-owned TSX and it looked decent, had okay miles, but man did it feel like it had a hard life. Everything was loose and clunky and it was pinging like mad. It couldn't have been more than 3 years old too.

So it's definitely worth the time to get them checked out; at least some seat time to make sure it's all good.

Good luck and happy shopping!
