Body damage :-((
Body damage :-((
My TSX Sport Wagon just passed the 6,000 mile mark. While I was cleaning off the hood of my car, I found what looks like a rock chip, maybe 1/8-1/14" in diameter. In additional, it looks like someone keyed the side of my car. It's ironic because I always park as far away from other cars as I can, and stay back from trucks that look like they could spray me.
So.....I'd like some a. Sympathy, and b.Some input on whether you think my car can be returned to "as good as new" condition. A number of years ago, my TL got a hood ding, and the body shop guy told me the best thing I could do was to touch it up. I think the car was a couple of years old when that happened. It was touched up, but by the time it turned six, some rust was beginning to appear.
I know the dealer (who is about 30 miles from me) has a body shop they use. Do you think, that would be my best bet?
Any thoughts would be appreciated.
Thanks.

Sorry to hear about the damage. I know the first few dings/scratch are the toughest to accept. Anything can be fixed as far as I'm concerned but it just depends if you want to drop some coin doing it.
btw, pics would help

I have a few rock chips on my cars hood too
The cheapest thing to do is touch up, but to have it back to new would require stripping all of the paint on the entire panel and repainting.
There was a DIY show on tv once where I saw the guy respraying just a portion of the hood to repair a deep scratch. I have no clue how much any of these options cost though.
If the scratches aren't too deep there's a small chance they can be buffed out, or at least become less visible.

that sucks. i had a severe ding on my hood at one point. it was a rock chip hard enough to slighly bend the metal. it was bad. i tried touchup paint and watched a ton of vids on how to do it properly so its never visible again. unfortunately that only works on cheap paint. my car is white and has that shiny stuff in it. so it looked terrible when i fixed it. took it to a body shop and they took care of it. now i cant even find the ding. they dont have to repaint the whole hood. i think they sand the clear coat down, mask the chip with paint and blend it to the rest of the hood. then respray the whole hood with clear coat. it looks like it never happened.
