My cousin went this way, not sure if you'd want to, but his dad works at a body shop and they just took the plastic piece and sprayed it with black automotive paint. LOL. I didn't think it'd work, but it looks really good!

The spray is not as easy to remove as a tint. I used the Laminex on my old civic. I purchased it by the linear foot, applied then cut. I felt like some of the precut stuff was just a little too small for the area needed to be covered. Check out laminex website and see your options. Plus laminex helps prevent scratches......not sure why you would need this on tailights but helpful for clear body mask. Good luck, let us know what you decide to do.

about like 60% of the cars in my college parking deck have blacked out tail lights. Ive only very rarely seen it used tastefully. Otherwise like said its overly rice and whenever i see it i immediately think "college kid"

Exactly my point.

thank you for having the same views that I do.
most people black out to be different....but its so easy to do that every one ends up doing it.

Be original. DONT be that guy that blacks everything out.
it makes your semi-expensive car look RICE!

Don't go with the spray as you'll end up having to buy some tail lights if you don't do it right as the stuff is very hard to remove if more than one layer is applied. It will need more than one layer by the way.

Window tint is not made for exterior use. It will come off after a month or so from rain showers and or car washes.

More than likely what you've seen is people using vinyl laminate on their tail lights, headlights, etc.

i had a taillight tint done at a local body shop. Ive had it for close to two years and haven't come off yet. I guess they did a good job lol. I have debated on whether or not I should take it off since Im going with a new direction with my car.

^blacking out is to easy. any one could do it.

the harder part in modifying a car is picking things that go well or flow. if you can achieve this, then your car will be epic and every one will like it....

@ kowloon - the blackout works if you go the whole mile and complete the look. I dont think it looked bad on your car, the only thing i wasnt a fan of was the double wheel setup the silver contrast wheels looked flawless imo

Am I outdated or missing something here?
Why do you guys want to black-out the tailights?

the thing is that its more of a smoked than a blacked out. Like you can clearly see when I brake. I only did the double wheel set up because I didn't want to do the whole thing since I just wanted to see how my car would look like if I blacked out everything. It's off already.

In my opinion, I think it flows well since all I have cleared headlights which matches the chrome on my rims with the door trim and window trim. But of course not everyone likes my rims. You can't please everybody.
