All-Season Tires?

Hey guys, im currently looking for some all-season tires to replace my OEM tires. I've searched around and it seems like the Bridgestone Potenza 960 a/s and Continental ExtremeContact DWS are one of the favorites. Does anyone have one of these tires on their vehicle? Any other solid options out there? I do most of my commute on the road, sometimes on the highway but not very often.

Oh yea I live in Houston, TX by the way so we don't get any snow at all down here. Mostly dry with a few rainy days here and there.

Thanks

I can't say for myself or my TSX since I still have the OEM tires on, but I bought a set of the Continental ExtremeContact DWS for her '07 Eclipse. She loves them and gets excellent traction in the rain and snow. I will be picking up a set once my stockers wear out.

Check out tirerack for reviews/prices. You might be able to get a local tire shop to pricematch them.

So Houston has mostly paved roads already?

The Contis are great tires.

+1 I've seen these mentioned quite a few times on here and everyone's always had really good things to say about them.

I had a previous version of the Contis on a Saab, and loved them. I will almost certainly get a set for my TSX when the OEM Michelins need to be replaced. I expect steering feel and ride to improve with the Contis. They are not great in snow, but I'm not sure any ultra-high performance all-seasons are.

Are they the Bridgestone Potenza RE960AS Pole Positions? If so, they flat-spot terribly after the car is sitting for a couple hours. Your steering wheel will shake for a few miles after being parked, until the tires warm up. I got 50k out of mine though.

Is there anything you are looking for specifically out of a tire? Performance? Comfort? Everything?

I hear lots of great things about the DWS, like the rest of you guys, and they are well regarded on tire rack and other review havens

My brother in law recently picked up a set of Turanza Serenity all seasons and they are quite comfortable, they match the character of his Lexus well, though for myself I would probably lean towards the DWS or pirelli p-zero nero

That's odd because that isn't their reputation. Those tires do like proper alignment though and tend to cup if misaligned. Cupped tires get very noisy.

I did have the alignment checked, I had it checked at the dealership and a local shop and they both said the alignment was right on. So I don't know if it was my luck and got a defective set of tires or what but they were really loud for me. I currently have Michelin PRIMACY MXM4 on my TSX and they are good so far.

That is odd, I guess you could have gotten a bad set.

The DSWs are a higher performance category all season than the Michelins so they'll be a bit noisier and will wear quicker.

I had DSW's on the TSX for about 60 miles last Friday (long story) and felt no difference between the tires but that wasn't much of a test.

I have seen more chopped/cupped extreme contacts than 960/70's the bridgestones are a noisy and have vibrations cold but 2-4 minutes of driving usually takes care of that

I drove 70 miles round trip to work every day, 95% highway driving, straight highways, they would start out not to loud in the morning and by the time I got to work they were so loud you had to yell to talk to people in the car. I swapped tires from a friends TL and the car was so much quieter it felt like I was in a different car. I wanted to swap tires before I would buy new ones to see if it was something else like a wheel bearing but it was the tires. Sad because other then the noise they were the best all season tires I have ever had for driving in the snow.
