Aftermarket brakes success stories, please

Hey gang,

After surfing through a few pages of search results I've found a lot of great suggestions for aftermarket pads/rotors to replace the OEM - what I haven't found yet is someone saying "I have these, they work".

I've had my car for a few months now and am already sick and tired of the on-off-on-off pulsing that develops after the brakes warm up. Not to mention the limp-wristed approach the brakes take to stopping in general. I purchased a CPO 09 that had had its pads AND rotors replaced. I was starting to think they lied to me until I saw thread after thread of folks saying "yep, OEM sucks."

So basically, if you've purchased an "upgraded" braking system / just new pads / whatever that has managed to give you solid braking performance please let me know what has worked for you.

At best I'd just like to know which pads/rotors will stop the undulation.

Thanks!!

if your brakes still pulsate, i'd take it to another dealer and have them look at it. after mine were resurfaced, all the shaking stopped.

That's interesting to hear. Thanks, man. I thought the pulsing was a characteristic of the OEM brakes as a whole & the only solution would be to replace them with other parts. I was hoping it wasn't just the nature of the car's balance to make the car shake like that. Luckily my commute to work isn't long enough to heat them up to the point of shaking.

You may just need to re-bed the pads to the rotors. The pulsating could be an uneven build up of pad material on the rotors. Re-bedding the pads costs you nothing.

Do a search on bedding in brake pads.

Lucky it's Friday, I'll give it a shot tonight and report back sometime after the weekend to let everyone know what differences I notice. Thanks, guys.

yup exactly what was already said. The brakes should definitely not pulsate. you might need some rotor re-surfacing.

I've had good experience with aftermarket carbon-ceramic brake pads. They brake so much better than OEM.
