I dont think Acura will do something like this in the TSX or its replacement. Hell, they wont even give us push start ignition like their higher vehicles. Something like this, again, would be in the higher class vehicles of Acura.

You can change your cluster set up????

The first "glass cockpit" in an auto. Way cool. Aircraft have been doing this for a couple of decades now, so it's really a logical evolution. A series of displays driven by a common management system, all re-configurable through software. Using the iPhone-like touch interface is genius. All manufacturers will now have to follow. Showing up first in high-end machines this will quickly become standard, even in the low-end just like ABS, traction control, and stability assist systems did.

This bleeding edge (for cars) technology will take years to sort out. Honda generally doesn't bring anything to market until it is "battle tested" and perfectly bulletproof.
Don't expect this on any Acura or Honda until the year 2020.

Maybe for Honda/Acura but I think it will happen way sooner than that for most other manufacturers. Audi, BMW, Lexus, and others are already using this technology in one form or another. It makes sense from a manufacturing standpoint. The electronics for this stuff is easy. Even the cheapo Civic's and other low-end models are showing up with multiple LED color displays now. Under the dash is a bunch of computers and interconnects driving that stuff, so they are already moving in this direction.

The BMW has intelligent battery sensors that monitor the state of the battery and adapt the charging rate to the state of the battery, but for that to work you need to "register" a replacement battery with the car to the tune of a couple of hundred dollars or the battery will be overcharged and die a very premature death (a year or so.) This also comes with a very fragile battery cable that often breaks during a battery install and costs $150 to replace - all to eke an additional year out of the battery.
Honda would rather refine an existing technology to the point of no failure rather than implement very new technologies. They'll gussie up the current reliable stuff so it looks snazzier but underneath all that is basic, reliable technology.
That's why you won't see type of display on a Honda product for many years.

Now we have to watch out for every schmuck on the road interacting with their computer screen while drifting in and out of lanes and running red lights.
In another 10 years this stuff will all end up getting regulated just like cell phones and texting.

Yea so advanced...
no but seriously, don't ever expect this for the TSX. We don't even have push start buttons or automatic hood openers...That come standard on a Hyundai Sonata.
But yeh, it would be cool to see Acura implementing this sorta crazy shit on their higher end models. BMW, Benz and Audi have all stepped up their games regarding gadgets and technology, time for Acura to do the same!

stupid drivers will always be stupid regardless of what new touch navigation or computer display that will come on a car.
