Adam's rotors AR Race Double Slot

Its a long story so I wont bore you here but

Big Props to Adams Rotors for taking care of me

check out Adam's Rotors for braking needs; he is a forum supporter and deserves a look!

these double slot rotors are as quiet as OEM....I do not know they are on except when its important.

I also have the StopTech replacement pads THey are ceramic pads like the OEM ones and I would expect the same wear.

I cant wait to get my SUMMER WHEELS ON!

OK OK some pics

the front during install

the rear during install

close up of rear slots

front wheel on ,,,,,stockers with snows.

rear wheels on

I followed adams bedding procedures to the T. I went to an induistrial area on the weekend where no traffic, did my 10 60-10-60 stops and this road is right near a highway entrance so i did the stops and hit the highway 75 MPH for like 15 miles so they get a good cooling off.

here some pics after the bedding

pedal feel is the same in regular driving.....but the bite is there when I need it. I started commuting through downtown to a new gig and had to use these twice already/

i want to now clean them all up and paint my calipers black and get the SS brake lines to increase the pedal feel.

Cool pics and review. I am still in the market for a BBK... Traveling so much right now, hard to get anything really going.

Adams does have BBK parts as well.

I need to use my stock wheels for 6 months a year so a BBK is out of the Q at the moment.

Great post man! I am looking into AR rotors as well so this review has really helped my decision. So upgrading just rotors and pads creates a noticeably difference in braking performance you think?

i didnt OFFICIALLY MEASURE ANYTHING but SOTP feels better

going to do brake lines to SS next.......that may stiffen up the pedal some/

I have stop tech drilled rotors and hawk performance pads, and they make hell of a difference. I definitely feel safer, and the annoying shaking went away. I have done some pretty hard stops and they have surely kept me from getting into a crash. Definitely worth upgrading.

Nice looking rotors. I would leave the screws off next time tho. You dont need them since they are only for the factory line to keep the rotors on while the car travels down the line. Its always a pain to take the brakes off when those dang screws rust!!

Let us know how they hold up in the next year.

thanks for the tip HOWEVER if you are any type of a mechanic you might have known that putting a dab of anti-seize on the screws will make them totally removable forever.

in a year put up some cash and we can have a bet if I can remove them

without the screws there is a possibility of the rotor falling off when you are doing the brake pads the next time....

So why did you switch from the dimpled set up to this one? I was doing some research on brakes and saw that you had the dimpled ones just back in December.

^ dimpling (and drilling) do nothing but look good, they have no performance benefits.
slotting (particularly our double slotting) have great heat dissipation, glaze avoidance, and added bit.
it truly is one of our best performing patterns & easily our most unique being a totally exclusive pattern.

wouldn't slotted with drilling dissipate MORE heat??

good video on it here...

it just doesn't...
drilling was designed to break-up pad gas, old race compounds used to create.
it would effectively create a pocket or cushion between the pad & the rotor surface otherwise, drastically effecting your bite.
this was a fix.

but new age pads simply don't create this gas...now it's purely for aesthetic.
...which is all fine & dandy & more than adequate for 90% of you & your daily driving needs, but just don't expect any gains; slotting is where it's at.

Look at Formula 1 and Indy rotors....they do not have any drilled holes nor slots. What does that tell ya?

I ran Hawk HP10s on my stock WRX TR rotors and had no issues with bite on the Le Mans course at TMS. HP10s are 1 step below Indy Car grade.

I would just use slotted if anything. They look good and do some good over non-slotted with street and simi race pads in my experience. Drilled rotors tend to crack a lot easier and faster than non-drilled/non-slotted and slotted rotors

I understand there is less surface area when drilling and more prone to cracks but.....why do I see things like this....??

ceramic...drilled....F430

Ceramic is a different story than steel disks. They can take higher heat and cool faster than steel. Ceramic is created by pressing together the mixture with carbon. IMHO and I could be wrong but they are drilled for cosmetics and tradition. Since they are much stronger they can in theory handle being drilled more than steel blanks. It may also be a CYA situation just in case their pads do create unexpected amounts of gas. People also tend to not use factory pads.

You also cannot service ceramic. No machining for those.

You also have to keep in mind the cost of retooling a line. The line is setup to drill not slot.
