alrighty so heres my fun story of the day, i'll upload some pics and say a bit now, but expect a full thread by the weekend.

So today, got out of class at about 5, went to go get a car wash, was done at about 6. hand car wash, they take about 30 min. so they pull up my car, i do a quick walk around, get in, and im about to drive off. i see that the parking brake(e-brake) is slightly up, on the first notch, so i try to pull it down. well, to pull it down you have to raise it, press the button, and put it down. it didn't work so i tried it again, and it got stuck all the way up. now im in the driveway and i knew there would be another car soon, so i wanted to pull out and on the side of the road, problem here is that my rear wheels are locked... so i power through the brake, dragging my rear, literally, barely make it without hitting a parked car to the side of the road. long story short. i couldn't find anything on google, and pulled apart the entire center console(thanks to ssjoeblow for putting the DIY up, i followed it and it worked). i tried looking for a manual release, for a way to trigger it myself, to slip something between the teeth so i can just disengage it and drive home, then figure it out when im not on the side of traffic. couldn't find shit. eventually figure out that the silver e-brake cover is defective. it slides up, making it impossible to depress the button to lower it. this took nearly an hour to figure out, and i did take apart that whole section. keep in mind i know nothing of how that part of the brake works. heres a few pics, and expect a complete write up. this is also something everyone should look out for incase it comes up in an emergency situation, it is really an easy fix. oh and the area under the cupholders? SO FUCKING DIRTY

and the side of the actual lever

Nothing too crazy. I don't want to give it all away now. I know what I want I just need to do a lot more digging on what sizes I need.

opb, i feel like gunmetal works well with your car. but so do black, im obviously a bit biased on the gunmetal though

i feel like 9.5 is as wide as i would want to go haha. maybe more aggressive offset

I dont really want something thats going to be so agressive that I will need to roll/pull fenders and run camber.

I am looking at 9" wide. I kind of want 9.5 but I also dont want to run a 35 profile tire in order to get the tire width right. I want to stretch a little as possible. I also want to try to get the same offset wheels all around(to be able to rotate) and run a 5mm spacer in the back to push it out a little.

In order to get a 40 sidewall I will either need to stretch tires some or re-calibrate the speedometer since it will now be 1 to 1.5mph off. Does anyone have any experience or input with calibrating?

you can always do 9" wide, then run 225/40 or something (check if that's close to the stock diameter. can't remember on the top of my head)

when you buy tires, choose something that runs large so you can keep the stretch minimum. the tires im running right now (michelin ps2) i THINK they run large or true to size, because my stretch is very little.

hmm I forgot how good HFP look. And they will be a few hundred cheaper(even with powdercoating them piano black) than the ones I have picked out. They are only 8" wide though...

Edit: and I dont think you can get custom offsets?

HFP are +55 so you can play with spacers to get the offset you want, like +25 rear +15 front would be good and conservative with 8" IMO (im getting the same offsets on my 8" w/ spacers)

and 8" wide is not a detriment... This isnt a RWD car putting out 400 lbs torque on the rears... you dont need 9.5" sticky tires to catch the drag strip, for us going wide is a minor aesthetic

Anyone else surprised killerg is actually helping me instead of immediately posting a weird picture and calling me gay? He must be having a rare good day today.

I think I am going to go with 9" wide. I want to go with the smallest spacer possible since I don't trust them, and at 5mm I think I am safe. It will be easier to pick a tire with less stretch with a 40 sidewall. As for the speedometer, how much off is bad? is 1.5% off that bad (60.9 actual @ 60 speedo). I know its illegal to put different size tires on because it affects the odometer and junk, but at 1.5% difference is that anything to worry about?

noone said ur not gay for the record

and if ur worried about spacers being untrustworthy you will probably want to skip 5mm spacers too; at 5/10mm you will need to replace your studs with extended studs which is quite the process. You might as well get the offsets you like.

and dont worry about the speedo, the 1% is so negligible you wont notice it, the biggest thing i think that will bother you though is getting your sidewall heights to be visually appealing

pretty much every single car with non stock wheels is "illegal" in the sense that youll never be 100% on stock specs with aftermarkets unless you match to 17x7.5

Yeah, I might just get different offsets for front and back. I read that 5mm spacer is the most you'd want to go without getting extended studs. I guess I still dont really like the idea of spacers. I would like to be able to rotate my tires though. Ill have to think about it more.

its the "most" you can go, but thats still the most dangerous way to use spacers imo. Without extended lugs or bolt-on spacers you are putting a lot of extra stress on the stock studs. Bolt-ons are good (15-25), extended is better (5-10), and proper offsets are best

good luck... If you are budgeting around 399 a wheel you can always go forgestar which has custom offsets, or you can go hang around clublexus classifieds and try to buy someones used piano black f14s which ive seen occasionally while i was shopping wheels

I want to go more aggressive in the future also, but ive only put like 500 miles on my current set up. school is lame.

Oh god... I can never pop the collar. My 8th grade algebra teacher ( she was about 35 or so) came to class every day with her collar popped. It was the weirdest fashion statement at the time. We made fun of her behind her back (literally while she was writing on the board)

Truth be told I never had Lacoste polos.

BR you always size down cuz they seem to supersize shit

Club Monaco is nice too, no logos and shit

Ralph Lauren Polos for obvious reasons BIG PONY FTW.

Oh shit I'm talkin about clothes again I wonder if this is manly enough....
