mrstak, where in NYC are you located? Any water damage to your car?
You may be able to salvage your electronics if it was submerged in fresh water. Make sure everything is completely dry before powering up again. If it was salt water, just give up and toss it out now.

I would buy a new power supply for sure. I wouldn't want a fire to start if something went wrong in there. If water seeped in to the hard drive it is trash too. I would rinse the computer in clean water and leave it in the sun for at least a few days. Works with phones so it might work with a desktop too. You might get lucky.

live in brooklyn. evac zone A. same as irene but irene only had rain and wind. sandy was high tide with wind and no rain. if it was raining too, i'm sure it would've been floor to ceiling of water in my basement.
car is fine. was able to drive it out through some small pools of water when i was evac'ing to my cousins house. saw so much flooding and broken trees. also when i came back the next day, someone tried to jimmy open my front door. fucking scumbags. one of my front door locks is messed up but the other one and my inner door are fine.

it's a car-drive it
Watching the long gas lines in NJ on the news. Happy to write my moms house in Toms River, my husbands sister house in Seaside Park and my brothers house in Stone Harbor are ok. My moms house lost power for only a hour.

Burning Brakes
If anyone is interested, Eibach has some pics up of SEMA 2012. No Acura/Honda content though.

Does anyone here drive their automatic with 2 feet? One for gas one for brake? I drove like this for about 5 years. With a lot of practice I now drive the right way with only one foot. My dad and sister both drive 2 footed.

Yeah I can see the majority of people messing up driving like that. I consider myself to be a great driver in the and am extremely aware of whats going on and everything around me. I never once accidentally pressed the wrong pedal or had any confusion about it. The brake for the firebird was also pretty stiff so it was difficult to accidentally ride the brake and gas at the same time. Also in that car I was sitting only a few inches above the floor so the pedals were really comfortable to let both feet rest on them.

Good morning fellow Sandy-survivors and Acura enthusiasts alike. First day back in the office and first day connected to the world. Not much else to report aside from having no power. Car has a big fat scratch on the hood from a power line hitting the roof, but it good be worse.
P.s. justn, I laughed when I read your post about the IT guys. Lol, what sites do you go on

I only drive with one foot in automatic but when I switch from driving my car to an auto I always stomp on the non existent clutch when I start the car lol. I have almost put the car in park going like 20 mph cause my brain was downshifting. Good thing they put locks on for that stuff haha.

Three Wheelin'
Welcome back Sandpaper! I have had similar experience in autos where I accidentally stomped on the brake pedal thinking it was the clutch at 70 MPH on the highway at the same time too the car out of drive into neutral. Felt like such a douche and not mention the pain my in neck.

Thanks for the warm welcome! I think Sandy has taught me one thing: I need to move to Texas.
P.s. did anyone see the ILX's at SEMA? Haha, don't you wish you guys jumped on the new car bandwagon? lol, jk. Hope everyone else is well. P.Dave, I'm glad the diesel didn't ignite and that you're ok.

DFW gets a lot of tornados/hail. I'm in a garage at work and covered parking at home so my car stays safe almost all the time.
I would probably choose Austin if you don't mind the humidity. Always stuff to do and events going on. Harder to find a job (at least for me) there than DFW. I really like downtown Fort Worth. I have a friend who lives downtown and we always walk around at night. Dallas is alright if you live in a suburb like Richardson. I'm still getting used to having so many ghetto areas scattered around.

I'm good bro, thanks for asking! Nothing really went down in MA except for power lines, thankfully. Although my Security company partnered up with Nstar to secure sites where power lines went down while they weren't around, so I picked up a good 20 hours @ $30 / hr in two days. Thank you Sandy!!!
Hopefully all is well on your side!!
