CAgine - sorry to hear of your gremlins... don't know about Germany vs South Africa, but IMO, but all things being equal, Made in Japan is better quality.
Design and engineering may be the same, but culture and fanatic adherence to ‘a way of doing things’ (shikata) produce more consistent and better products.
Also, the TSX is designed for Japan and European drivers, the Accord/TL are for the US market. Things have normalized more recently, but historically, one market is more focused on handling and a stiffer drive, and one on luxury and comfort.

I'm late to this thread, but I agreed with musty hustla and purchased a TSX, specifically because it was Made in Japan.

I believe TSXs are made in Japan. I would say that's a bonus.

When I drove my moms accord most of the time it is in economy mode. Isn't that CVT.

Probably should have gotten the Accord since it would have been cheaper and given better gas mileage.
You made a great choice! I always get 500+miles per tank on the tsx and you will enjoy the way it performs overall. Also, if i remember correctly, a lot of people on the forums have expressed that the 4cyl tsx handles a lot better than the v6 tsx due to the weight distribution. I have not driven a v6 tsx and cannot testify to this but comming from a heavily modified BMW m3, this car does feel and handle very well! Yes, I kinda wish it was rwd, but I am very happy with my purchase. It's been 6 months, 9000 miles with my tsx and try and find every excuse to go out on the road and drive!

Nope. That just alters parameters like shift points to maximize fuel economy. "CVT" stands for continuously variable transmission. These have no fixed gear ratios, and adjust ratios depending on throttle position, load, etc. Some can be set to mimic a conventional automatic with preset steps that function as fixed ratios. Your mom's Accord does not have a CVT.

Thanks Chicosito! It's probably mostly just the buyer's remorse I get after any big purchase, so not necessarily because it's a TSX.

I'm hoping I average some decent mileage (I'll know after I finish a tank of gas, only 153 miles in so far).

Only thing is, the TSX seems to sit really high, I wish it were a bit lower.

Mine sits 15mm lower on KONIs and stock springs. I scrape on driveways and exiting some parking lots very often. I will most likely end up getting stiffer springs at some point, but will probably end up with the Ground Control kit just so I can raise it when needed.

We just came back from trip to the mountains and I scraped on snow piles getting in and out of driveway with bottom of the car. BTW, 30MPG average for this 450 mile trip from sea level to 7,000 feet and back, all on one tank, still have enough gas for 50 miles. 2 adults, one kid, car loaded up with stuff. Going 70-80mph, some traffic, some driving in town on snow and ice.

I'm having similar thoughts right now and in Canada you can get the 4 cylinder touring with a manual for $33k while there is no similarly equipped TSX within 4-5k (although there are a large discounts available on TSXs right now).

The Accord is also a bit faster (0-60 in 6.6 according to C/D) and better on gas.

The Accord seems like a steal to me.

V6 Accord Coupe?

The NY Times just reviewed the V6 Accord Coupe, 6 speed. I know, the OP was looking for a sedan, but it's still fun to read the review:
