2013 BASE TSX Loaner

I have a 2014 Rdx and just dropped it off for service .
I had noticed that coming from a SUV it was weird for a bit .
The brakes felt a bit different and not that strong but mabey because its a loaner but the rdx is very smooth when braking ?

Just my thoughts .

Jokes aside, a lot of us feel the same way. But you also would be comparing a SUV to a sedan, so you're gonna have bigger/stronger brakes I assume anyways.

you're comparing two different class of vehicles.

yes, one vehicles brakes will feel completely different than the other vehicle....

Brakes on the new RDX are very touchy... Noticed that in a '14 loaner coming out of the '08.

mine have gotten worse over time. Now they are pretty crap. But the pads aren't worn down yet.

They weren't that bad when I first got the car. I'll swap the rotors and and pads with better stuff once these finally wear down..

Steel braided brake lines will help restore that old brake feeling in the pedal. It's always a good upgrade.

i dont think steel braided brakes lines are really needed, unless you are autocrossing. You probably can just get an upgraded brake pad and rotors for everyday driving

For those of you complaining about poor braking - when did you last check the level and change your brake fluid?

I'm at 11,000km on my 2013 TSX and I've already started to notice the brakes not engaging nearly as well as it used to. Fluids haven't been checked/changed.

when you say change brake fluid, you mean take it out, let it sit while you take the car around twice, then put it back in, right?

Correct. Brake fluid, like good wine, needs to breath so you drain it, air it out (rinse it off if it looks dirty) and pour it back in.

Thereafter, find a nice straight stretch of road with a wall at the end and run your car into it.

Brake fluid absorbs moisture so brake feel is affected over time. I believe that Acura (as do most car manufacturers) recommend a fluid exchange (oild fluid out, new fluid in) every two years regardless of mileage. It'll feel like a new car thereafter.

As your brake pads wear, the fluid level drops causing a change in feel.

The brake fluid change interval is every 3 years, regardless of mileage. FWIW.

I'll take a look, but I'm very doubtful as my car is only a year old. Thanks

Have not checked my fluid... my car is a '10 so it may need changing then.

Whoopsie - correct. The BMW was at 3 years for the factory fill and 2 years thereafter.

Thanks
