Tsx se

What I found:

The 2012 TSX: our most popular sedan enters 2012 with a new trim level. The TSX Special Edition (SE) will offer a dressed up interior, including; black leather seats with red stitching, red interior lighting, aluminum pedals, and an all-black headliner. The existing rims will have a darker finish, probably similar to what we see on the top trim levels of our other cars.

At launch, the only way to get the six speed manual transmission in the TSX will be to go with the new Special Edition. At this point it is not known whether non-SE trim levels will get the manual transmission later. This means that if you want navigation and a six speed manual, a 2011 would be the way to go. The new TSX SE will be available in white, black, a true silver (no longer Forged Silver), and for the first time in many years, a true red.

ACURA: Please match a 6MT to a V6 with SHAWD in this car.

I guess the radioactive parts limits the options.

Thanks nj2pa2nc and slade037.

Can't wait to see it in person. Wonder if we are getting one in Canada.
Does the SE comes with Navi or not, the last part is a bit confusing.

hmmm, hopefully we'll get some more info soon. Crossing my fingers that Canada gets this SE trim level and bright red and MTX are options.

this whole SE trim thing better not be a lie.....

I talked a little about it in a recent post on my site:
http://www.satoauto.com/acura-cars/2...le-beyond.html

Not noted in my write up. Acura implies there are exterior changes beyond the dark finish wheels however, I can't tell if they're just saying 'sporty' in the current context or referring to actual changes like a small body kit or something. So I left this out for now.

BTW, nj2pa2nc, when I saw this I actually thought of you!

Wow thanks for the info! I may have to wait for the '12s now to see what this is all about. Milano Red! Now how about another 20-25hp and a 6 speed auto?

My friend, the sales manager, told me the same thing. He said Seems like Acura listened. I did write acura corporate.

Black headliner?? Man, they're really pulling at straws here.

SE models are usually limited to Hondas, no? Acura typically does the Type S or Type R or even A-spec treatment.

I'll bet it comes out as a Type S with those split front spats that were new for 2011 and machined/dark rims and maybe a spoiler thrown in....

True. However, if my memory served me correctly, I think Acura did make a Special Edition Integra few years back.

Since all CU2 Accord in Asia and Europe has Type S model, it make sense for Acura to use Type S also. I think all 2011 sports model Accord in Europe and Asia has black headliner. I wonder if they will put the JDM Type S rear bumper and side skirts like yours in the SE/Type S model.

this actually makes me mad why they don't make black headliner a standard with the car?

it seems like something so trivial.

Type S has red lighting, flashier rims with Primacy HP tires.

there is no type-s TSX. i was hoping to god they would get rid of the 5 speed and put in the new 6 speed auto. looks like thats not the case. No v6 or manual for the wagon either. The SE is just bull...they should have added all-wheel drive or features like lane departure warning, multiview rear backup, collision mitigation etc. This car is competing with cars like 328i, A4, C300, S60 and G25 now that TL has become a full size sedan. and the only thing its got going for itself is reliability which is not enough.

Exactly, it's just like the Integra SE from the old days.

Just cosmetic changes so feel free to be disappointed. But remember, that the year after MMC is typically pretty quiet, I guess the alternative would have been to do nothing. Would have have been less disappointing for you?

I think Primacy HP's are standard Honda tyres for 18" rims on the Euros/TSXs?

We don't have the Type S in Australia but all models except for the base are equipped with 18" rims and consequently Primacy HP's.

Ok so let me get this straight. The SE sounds really good with the cosmetic changes, BUT you can't get nav with the 6spd? Man thats like buying a '11 TSX/Tech w/ a 6spd but you don't get the nav, but the other stuff. But from what Slade found it says AT LAUNCH the SE will come with a 6spd, so maybe the nav will come later in the model year. Hopefully the 6spd is not stuck with jus the SE model. Cosmetics just don't do it for a lot of people, ya know.

I would be happy with a body kit, body color grill, and a sport suspension. Limited slip would be cool too but that is probably dreaming. On another note, when they ramp up production in August, are they making more 11s or will they be making 12s?

Yes, I read it that way too. They typically limit options early in the MY, especially for something that will be VERY limited in actual sales. IMO, the 'problem' (in quotes cause I count myself as one) is that there is a disproportionate amount of angst amongst MT buyers vs. the actual number of sales. IOW, there are not many of us MT buyers left, but we whine loudly.

It looks to me like there is 1-1 1/2 more months of '11 production left and then it's all 2012s. (of course, these '11s would have been ordered a long time ago.)

Red stitching? I didn't know Acura had colored stitch as an option in their newer models

Here's a picture of a 2012 Euro Accord Type S, they have cloth insert on their seats, but otherwise similar to our TSX.

For them to do this they would have to call it the TSX "End of the World Edition". That car would be a sign of the world ending in 2012.

I would add that compared to the first half of the year, Acura is planning to up TSX production by 81% in the second half of the year.

hopefully they come through with the aluminum pedals so that way I can just buy the spare parts and put it on my car instead of having to decide between supercomputers or strutking pedals :p

Soooo does that mean your getting a '12 TSX 6spd? It comes in red. Or are you keeping you 06 for a little while longer?

This part of the SE package is not in question.

This will be disappointing if this is the only way to get a 6MT. There are only about 3-4 Tech MTs in the entire state of California, and I am not sure if dealers can order any for 2011.

I have been waiting for 2 months and there hasn't been a single one available in my colorway of choice. I think more people would buy them if more dealers would stock them, and customers got a chance to test drive one.

I am puzzled by Acura dressing up an SE version with cosmetics rather than focusing on supply.

Today's supply issues are a direct result of the production interruptions from the earthquake and tsunami. Once you understand that there is a 60-80 day window between orders and deliveries to the dealer lots. If you count back 2-3 months, you'll see that there was 0 production of Japan made cars. Once they're ready to launch the 2012s, its safe to say the factories will be running at full capacity.

I was seriously considering the Canadian limited edition Accord Coupe HFP V6 6M. Comes with 19" bronze HFP wheels, sport tires, lip kit, lowered suspension, HFP badging and is limited to 200. Unfortunately it only comes in black, and i was hoping for blue or red. This TSX SE might be the better solution.
