2010 TSX V6 lease advice
Hey Guys ... I put down a deposit on a 2010 TSX V6 Tech AT White/Black last night.
The Acura dealer I test drove the car at a couple days before invited me to some private sale event and said this is the day to get it if your looking for a deal.
Just looking for some feedback on the deal before its official ...
48 Month Lease with $5k down @ 1.9%
MSRP:42790
Residual:17543.90
Price:42600
Air Tax:100
Cash Down: 5000
Monthly Payment:482.22
Including Tax: 540.09
What do you guys think ... the dealer is Langley, BC Canada.
Thanks!
Ranbir

Your residual is way less than 50% of the price. That doesn't seem to make sense for an Acura, but maybe the V6 has a lower residual. You might want to check out leaseguide.com.
Also, I would never put down more than the minimum initial payment for a lease. Think of all the other things you could do with the $5K that you're giving up now. Don't try to calculate your lease based on monthly payments, unless you want to get killed by the dealer. I mean, you're not buying the car, it's technically not even a "down payment". You're basically lumping part of your monthly payments and paying them all at once.

I am also very interested in an Acura TSX (Just coming out of school), however I am amazed that the Canadian prices have not been adjusted for the improved $$$ yet. I am sure people have harped about this before, but if you compare Canada vs. US prices for Lexus, their MSRP's are within a reasonable range.
Example:
CAD USD Diff % Diff Acura TSX Tech $40,590 $32,410 $8,180 25% Lexus IS250 RWD $34,400 $33,020 $1,380 4% Acura TSX V6 Tech $42,790 $38,760 $4,030 10% Lexus IS350 RWD $45,900 $38,470 $7,430 19%
However, the others I have looked at Audi, Infiniti still have their CAD price $6-8k above USD MSRP.
However, at least Lexus, Audi, BMW, and Infiniti honor the warranty for a US bought car in Canada. Honda/Acura is he only one among the list (for comparable cars) that does not honor the warranty.(http://www.apa.ca/template.asp?DocID=253#ACURA)
I envy you guys in the U.S, if I could get my 4 Cyl. Tech for $33k before I even began to haggle, I would already be driving one.

Sorry about the stupid posts, thought the table would convert. But I guess your original intent was to gain advice.
Just from going on Acura.ca's website, I almost matched your price with $5k down at $572 per month. Same Residual, with tax/freight etc. MSRP $44685.
I don't think your getting to great a deal, I am sure you can hammer a lot more out of him if you tried. As for the down payment, its your time value of money. You can pay the $5k today to ensure in the future you have a little more $$ room in case there is an emergency with the lesser lease payment.
Or you can put $0 down and have a lease payment of $694 ($150 more) than your paying now. ($1800 per year). With the extra $1800 per year, it turns out to be more than $5k in 48 months, so its up to you on that side.
Personally I would try going in with a "walk-away" attitude. The more you threaten to walk away, the more he will be willing to bargain (hopefully). But your deposit may have shot you in the foot, since he knows your committed to the TSX. If its possible, take a stab at another dealer see what you can work out of him.

So I didnt end up going for it. For multiple reasons
I couldnt swallow the idea of paying for something and not owning it and it isnt exactly what want.
Instead I am trying to finance this:

A little off-topic, but the V6 TSX is a very good value in Canada compared to the 4-cylinder, which is the opposite of the case in the US. The pricing of the 4-cylinder Tech in Canada, however, is absolutely outrageous when controlling for US-Canada exchange rates, as the US and Canadian dollars are essentially equal right now (Thanks Ben and Barry).
