2010 TSX - "Tighten Fuel Cap" message

I was just wondering if there are any 2nd gen owners that had this problem before? Is this something I need to worry about?

I've had my TSX for almost 4 months now and today was the first time I saw this message come up on my maintenance minder. I re-tightened my gas cap to make sure it is closed. I even turned it more than 3 clicks but It still shows the same message. Its weird because the last time I filled up was 2 weeks ago and I always tighten it properly. I did a search and found a few posts with regards to this matter. Is this normal for all Acura models?

Any comments or advise are welcome. Thank you!

You could always stop by the dealership and have them check it out? Assuming you still have warranty.

That's the first thing I thought of but I wasn't feeling well so decided to just go straight home... I might go tomorrow after work just to get it checked. Good thing there's a dealership really close by my area. Thanks for the suggestion.

After you tighten the gas cap, it will take several driving 'cycles' for the indicator to clear on it's own. If it didn't clear after a day or two, you could always stop at the dealership to reset the light.

Mine does this EVERY TIME I get below a 1/4 tank. I don't care how tight I tighten the cap. I heard that the TL had faulty gas caps

Actually I drove to get pizza this evening and when I got back home I noticed that the light went off. Hopefully it will be fine now. I will find out tomorrow morning before I head to work.

I had this problem when I first bought my TSX back in August. The "Tighten Fuel Cap" message appeared after my second fill-up. It hasn't appear since *knocking on wood*. You should be fine.

happened twice on my 1st gen. tsx. (first time after the dealer did the annual state inspection and then after getting fuel at a NJ gas station) Both times they did not turn the gas cap enough and even after I did it the message would not disappear. I then had the dealer reset it.

Looks like everything is fine now. When I started the car this morning there was no info message about the fuel cap anymore

I guess my car just wanted my attention

This is a constant problem with almost every Acura out there. TL's and MDX's have the most issues with it however. Someone I know was told its because they keep filling up their gas tank after the pump clicks off...idk, i haven't had the issue.

This happened the first few times I had the car filled (Oregon, I can't do it myself). I have now learned to tell the attendant not to top off the tank, and am sure to listen for the clicking cap before driving off. Seems to have worked.

It happens to me only when it's really cold or really hot.
(Think 40-50F for cold and over 100F for hot)

I had the same problem with my 2009 TSX a couple of times. I took it to the dealer the first time this happened and he said it takes three cycles of starting the car before it resets itself. Sure enough, it worked - the forth time I started the car, the message didn't come back on.
