09 Tech with 42k what would you pay?

Toyota dealer within 100 miles of me got in an 09 Tech Auto with 42k on it. What do you guys think its worth? They are asking $24,900 for it which I think is really high. I'm buying this as a toy not my daily driver so the miles don't bother me. I've actually been looking at 1st gens but a good deal on an 09 would swing me.

At first glance that price doesn't seems particularly high for a dealer even with those miles. Its prolly not a steal either but you can usually haggle some from their price.

Why would you buy a 4 door TSX for a toy? That just doesn't make any sense.

Because I like the TSX, always have. It handles very well and is still somewhat practicle. I have 3 kids so a true sports car is not currently in the cards but I get tired of buying minivans and SUVs for my business. I've been looking at all sorts of stuff but I always come back to the TSX.....

It would have to be a steal for me to jump on it. What do you think a steal would be?

That's why you have a 4 door for a daily not a toy, and have a sports car as well for your toy. You can switch between them when needed.

Maybe one day. Look I'm not here to argue on my choice of cars.

To make me personally buy it, I'd say 22-23k would be a good price. 25ish just seems somewhat average in value. Depends on the condition too. I buy new cars because thats the condition I want, so a used for me would have to be in new condition for an average price, or used condition for a good price. 22-23 for that would cause me some serious consideration.

That seems to be the going rate for that year and mileage. Of course they'd sell it for less though, I'd try to knock off $1,000 and don't let them tell you you're stealing food from their baby's mouths. Take a book.

Personaly I would also test drive this if it's anywhere nearby (this is a link)

I wouldn't go over $24K. That's a lot of miles in a short time on a 1st year of production car, even for a Acura/Honda product.

If you are in the Florida area I'd take a hard look at this one:

Thanks for the responses guys. I think its too many miles. Now if it was like 20 or 21k that would be a different story. I have just been trying to figure out what to buy. Looking for a sports sedan and like I said, I love the TSX but I still need to go drive a G37x, a SHO, and maybe an A4.

If i stepped into a dealer today and they tried to sell me a "new" 09 tsx i would want at least 5k off the invoice without any negotiations. If the 2010 was a redesign like the 09 was for the 08 i would say 10k off invoice immediately. Now 42k miles.. another 5-7K off for sure. So i would start off with 10-12k off the invoice price for the car when it sold new. Then from there i would negotiate with the dealer. If you pay the price they have, get them to extend the waranty, or get the listed price including taxes.

$18-$20k? I don't think that's realistic but hey, who knows.

I don't think toy was the proper term. How about sports sedan I can mod....that is what I want.
