Where to buy FALKENS ZE512 tires to replace OEMs?

I heard enough goodies about FALKENS ZE512, and I'm convinced!

Now, the question is where to purchase them for the best price and which size/rating?

Seems like the only place is discounttiredirect.com - which sells them for $63 a piece with free shipping.

However, the issue is - Falkens ZE512 rating is 205/60R-16 92H B and not OEM size of 205/60R16 91V - the difference is H vs. V.

Please advise!

Thanks for your assistance in advance,
Tony

www.tiretrends.com sells them and will ship them from BC. You'll save PST.

But quite honestly if your stock tires are worn, you should use the opportunity to get 17's or18's!!!

Stick some winters on your stock rims and get Z rated tires for summer.

I'm currently in Boston and I'm sticking with my OEM rims.

I guess the question is - should I bring the rating up to 225 in order to get V rating? or just get the H rating?

Thanks,
Tony

I'd say get the W rated. Life is short!

P.S. You driving to Toronto any time soon? I'd pay you to bring some wheels and tires up for me ;-)

Hey guys, I read your posts on the falken's. just curious what you ended up going with and what your impressions have been since. I need to buy a set soon and I am trying to decide if I should go up to the 17, or stick with OE rims at 16. I am more concerned with performance over looks. Meaning, I am ok with the lame 16s, but if my performance will go up, I would be willing to go higher. also, would you go 215/55-16, or 225/50-16?? thanks

I got a set of 512s recently from sears for $65, I think. I already had two. They are much better than stock tires and stick to the road pretty good. No problems while driving in the rain etc. The only thing that worries me is they are softer than michelins being H rated and the size 205/60/16 has max psi rating of 51 against 44 with most of the other tires. If I put the pressure even around 35-36, I see the bulge when the car is stopped and also they feel squishy. Now that I put around 40-41, they feel great.
Just my $0.02...

And yes they are much noisier than stock michelins.

A friend just told me that 205/60/16 = 225/50/16

Could I get 225/50/16 and place them OEM rims without any issues?

You can't fit 225/50/16 without affecting the spedometer. The right size would be 225/55/16.

Just had a set of Falken Ziex 512 16" tires put on here in PDX for 271.00 mounted, balanced and new stems at America's Tire Co.

They handle much better than the OEM Michelins and have a 420 tread rating.
"H" speed rating is worth the trade off for the mileage and 139 mph is plenty fast enough.

My analysis! - Falkens ZE512 are AWESOME!

I went with 205/60/16 and I'm very impressed with them, riding through rain isn't an issue at all. I tend to speed through rain whether, which I shouldn't (safety reasons). But the tires seem so secure and safe. I only rolled on OEM, so could only compare OEM with these brand new Falkens. Yet, either way - these babies are sweet!

Their so amazing, I'm getting Falkens for my gf's Mazda protege 5. I definitely vouch for these tires.

Best Wishes,
Tony

Update!

Ok - I have had them on for awhile now (about 1,200 mi.)
and I am very impressed. We just had some real rain here
for the first time since I got them and they are way, way better than the
Michelins in the wet.

On long highway trips -they seem to be almost as comfortable as the squishy OEMs but with a better feeling of stability and, I can't tell much road noise difference (so far)

Cornering is much improved over the OEMs.

512's are good. Just don't become a darwin candidate and ride on them in below freezing temperatures.

I've just noticed that www.tires.com, were cheaper. Did Sears lower the price and add the tax? Or matched the price without tax?
