wheel lug question

One of my wheel lugs was cross threaded and snapped inside the lug nut when I was removing it. I am going to replace the wheel lug myself. Is there anything I should look out for, it seems to be a pretty straight forward install. Thanks

Be aware that in order to "properly" install the lug, you will have to take out the wheel bearing assembly out of the hub.

Otherwise, do what I did. After taking off the caliper and the rotor, I turned it to where there was just enough room on the hub to slide the lug by. It will not go straight in, so you will have to tap it in with a hammer, then tap it. At least that's what I did, because I didn't want to take out the wheel bearing assembly, since I didn't have a hydraulic press to push it back in.

Good luck.

Any time. By the way, I meant the second "tap it" as in re-threading the lug. Just clearing myself up.

turn your hub until you have enough clearence then hit the snapped one out. Then the same way you took out the old one put the new one in dont hammer it through with a hammer push it in so that the threads are showing then with a open end lug nut thread it until the lug pulls itself through then back the lug nut off and then you should be good. I have done this about 10 times on a Altima that i used to own. The heatshield gets in the way you can bang this back a little but be careful not to knock it off then it will be impossible to get back on. Hope this helps.

Thanks again everyone for your help, all this info is going to be very helpful. I went to my local dealer and they want 6 bucks for the lug I found it online for 2 bucks!
