what to do

i have a set of rims 18x7.5 offset 45 i'm going to lower the car 1.5 all around. what tire size? i don't want to rub i'm willing to cut tabs and roll if necessary but trying to steer away from rolling. i'm torn between 225/45 and 225/40. i want a nice ride. my buddy got these rubberbands (35) and you can feel every little bump..... or would 215/45 work better.

thanks for any and all input
