TSX wheel on TL-S - fit?

Hi,

I tried Tire Rack and Discount Tire and came up with different answers - that is why I'm coming to the experts.

My 02 TL-S has 17x6.5 wheels 65 offset (centerbore?) and the 06 TSX has 17x7 with 55 offset with a centerbore of 64.1mm.

Will it fit with the car loaded?

Thanks!

I've seen TL-S rims on a TSX and TSX rims on 2nd Gen TLs so I'm going to say yes it will fit.

No the car is very stock - I would like to replace as the weels have become pretty ugly in the weather. I have read that the CL-S will fit on the TL-S which would tell me that a 17x7 should go on a 17x6.5. I am just a bit concerned about offset.

Thanks all for your help with this one.

Actually in re-reading your initial question, I realized that the offset you noted for the TL-S wheel was incorrect. The actual offset is +55. Given that, I think that you should be ok. I used to run aftermarket wheels with a 17 X 7 +45 setup and I didn't have any problems with rubbing (keep in mind that I was lowered also).

cls wheels are 7 while tls wheels 6.5

tsx wheels are 17x7 with a 55 offset, same as stock.

should be plug and play really.

btw cls wheels look hot, but are hard to come by.

Kind of a novide here but since yours is lowered you would be mor elikely to have a problem with clearance - correct? WOuld a 55 offset have fewer problems than a 45?

Like demolition_x said, the closer you are to the stock offset of 55, the better. This being said, yes, you will have less of a chance of rubbing if your offset is 55 as opposed to 45. With a 45 offset, the wheel comes out more towards the sides of the car, making the wheels more flush with the body. Given this, you have more of a chance of rubbing since the gap between the tire and the fender / wheel well is diminished.

Assuming the offset is the same with the TL-S and TSX then the diff is the wheel with of an additional .5 inches. DO you see this as a problem with strut or caliper rubbing?

I don't think it would be a problem given the fact that Liqice put these wheels on his TL. But I can't say for sure because I've never put these wheels on my car before. Best thing you can do is PM Liqice and ask him, this is his car in the pictures. You can also PM derrick he should be able to give you a definitive answer. Just as a reference, I'm running a 18 X 7.5 with a +50 offset and I rub occasionally when I hit a dip with 1 person sitting in the back.

This is what derrick has to say with regards to 2g wheel fitment:

When purchasing rims for a car, there are several specifications to ensure a good 'fit'.

1) rim size
2) rim width
3) offset
4) bolt pattern

Rims range from 16" to 19" for our cars. Any smaller and they won't clear the OEM calipers. Any larger and you will have issues with 'rubbing'. I'm sure someone will say, "I got [XX] size to fit", but seriously -- look at their setup and most will not find that look very appealing.

Rim width and offset go hand-in-hand. Depending on your rim width, you have to watch the offset. The wider the rim, the higher the offset (so it doesn't rub up against the wheel well or plastic tabs of the fender when you hit a bump).

Our TL/TLS come with 6.5" rims with +55 offset, made my Enkei. General rule (but not always the case since there is some variation among manufacturers):

7" rim = +42 offset
7.5" rim = +45 offset
8" rim = +48 offset

> 8.5" rim ... forget it unless you wanna do some custom bodywork for it to fit.

This is only a guideline, not an end-all, be-all. Those who have done suspension work may have to find a higher offset than that posted to make sure their application will not have any problems.

Lastly, bolt pattern -- our cars have 5x114.3JJ bolt pattern. Luckily, many rim manufacturers make this bolt pattern but offset will be your limiting factor.
