True coilover kit question.

I did a quite a lot of search on the forum to find which would be good suspension setup and it seems like everyone suggests Tein SS coilover kit. Now, I want to find out if Tein SS would give better ride(comfort ride) than Tanabe coilover kit that fits on 98-02 Accord, which I think would fit on my 02 TL-S.
I want to drive a lowered car, but maintain comfort stock feeling ride.
thanks.

Tein SS is too soft since TL is heavy

My Apexi WS coilovers are better than Tein SS in ride and firmer

I had H&R sport with tokico blues. However, I put stock springs back in because they were too harsh.
So, looking for something that would give me a nice drop with comfort ride.

You mean, Tein SS is too soft that will give me harsh ride?

TEIN SS coliovershave dampening control.. I keep mine on the stiffest setting on my IS300 and its a bumpy ride but too too bad.. so I say if its on the softest setting you shouldnt have a problem.. I swaer the TEIN SS Coilvovers are the best 1000 I spent.. + EDFC since I change the settings alot..

wow the sports were too harsh for you? Then i'd suggest going to the HR OEs. I would imagine a coilover setup to be harsher than the sports.

hmm....
I may have some problem on my suspension, such as worned out bushings or something like that. But, i can't find any problem. Because the ride is still too harsh with stock springs on tokico blues. I'm so fraustrated now.
Does anyone know if pushed rubber bushings on top mounts would give harsh ride?

no
it's comfortable on the TL due to the extra weight, a little too soft for my taste

my Apexi is harsher, but the high speed stability is excellent with lane changes and cornering is great with almost no body roll

I was considering the Tein SS but I heard there was a problem with them after a while because they squeak or make some sounds.

I'm in Northbrook, IL. about 30 min. from Chicago. It snows lots here during winter and of course the road is all messed up.

coilover vs. H&R sport

After struggling with the harsh ride given from H&R sport, I put stock springs back on.
However, I miss the nice lowered look on my TL-S and at the same time, I want to keep my stock ride.
Now, I'm ready to invest $$ for true coilover kit as long as it would give me a nice stock ride feeling.
Everyone says that H&R is the way to go for close to stock ride, but I wasn't happy with them.
What brand of true coilover kit would you guys suggest?
Tein SS or Tanabe coiloer kit?
thanks in advance.

I am in the same boat at you. I would like to lower it but some what keep the stock ride... here in new york city it is pretty bad, and I am sure it is similiar to IL. tons of bumps and cracks in the road.

I was leaning towards a coilover kit like the Teins because I figure that they work best when they were designed to work with each other, structs and springs. A friend with a altima had gotten tokico hp blue series and H&R sports springs and damn is it a bumpy ride... harsher than an stock RSX Type S.

Anytime you lower a car, you have to use a stiffer spring to compensate for the lost wheel travel - I'm refering to non-coilovers. When you go to coilovers, you can adjust the height easily, but since the spring rates are not all that stiff (most of the basic kits), you will bottom out a lot; especially if the car is slammed.

Tein Basic and Tein SS will be a gd choice, they are firm but not harsh

Tanabe is a little too hard core for our cars, i would go for Tein

So, the shocks on the Tein SS would be softer(would give better ride) than Tokico blues and springs on coilovers would give less harsh ride then H&R sport? but harsher than stock ride? I just want to put all different pieces together.

Tein SS or H&R sport w/tokico blue

I had few other posts similar topic as this, but I never got a clear answer.
I had H&R sport springs with tokico blues before, but I ended up taking them off and I went back with stock springs w/ tokico blues.
Now, I am ready to buy Tein SS only if it would give better comfort ride than H&R sport w/ tokico blues.
Any suggestions?

At 16/16 on the EDFC (softest setting), the ride is very plush. Almost unbearably too soft for me.

I would recommend getting the EDFC with the Tein SS.

i heard only good stuff about Tein SS. it's the best, the only reason why i don't (and others) have it is b/c it's expensive. this is why i have the H&R. (looking for shocks - are you selling the tokico blues?)

but if you got the money, then go for it. it'll probably be the best investment you ever made..
