Going to need new tires for the TL before September. Got Moda M10 17 x 7.5" with 215/50/17 (stock tire size) on there now. Contact patch seems awfully small and i would like wider tires but have heard too many rubbing stories about 225/50/17's on a 7.5" rim. Is anyone running a 17x7.5 with any suggestions? Car is not lowered but should be by next year, hopefully.

225/50 is the wrong size slightly and will be a slightly taller tire (not by much). tires rubbing has more to do with the offset of the rim than the tire size.

So what would you suggest with the +45? tire rack said to stick with 215/50's. Maybe just find a tire with a larger section width to increase the contact patch?

225/45 would be perfect. It's a wee bit smaller than stock, but it'll look nice.
