Tire and rim sizing for 01 TL

Looking for some assistance and recommendations for a rim and tire size for my 01 tl.

I just purchased Megan EZ street coilovers and they are getting installed in the next few weeks. I found some rims that I would like purchase as well but i'm not sure about the sizing. I am probably going to drop it 1 1/2 to 2 inches.

I was thinking 225 45 17 tire/rim setup just because of the drop.

Thoughts?

Welcome Ranuccma !!!
That set-up would probably work out ok for ya.

Have ya tried checking through the "Sticky" s and FAQ right above, at the top of this page ?
Most everything has been tried previously and was well documented with great details there.

Welcome ranuccma!

For 17 inch rims, the size tire that goes with that size rim is 215/50/17. 225/45/17 will fit just fine. I think the speedo will be off a 1/2 mile to a mile per hour if that doesn`t bother you.

Honestly it all depends on the offset of the rim.

Thanks Guys. The rims I am getting have the same offset. I am still really torn between 18's with a 40 sidewall and 17's with a 45 sidewall. I am heading out Saturday to mock up two sets on the car to help me visualize it. Once i get the coils and wheels setup ill post some pic's.

FYI: The tl i am driving has only 130 km's on it and has never seen winter (its my dd). It has a cold air intake and I have gotten rid of the resonators and have also repalced the speakers. Not doing anythiung else to the car after this excpet mayb a 2 percent tint.

The "S" models came from the factory with 17" rims. Combined with a mild drop, there shouldn't be much to worry about for a daily driver.

It's all in the total OD and offset as previously mentioned. Upsizing is up to the individual desires of the finished look, but remember that the lower the sidewall profile.....just don't expect the tires to ride quite as well, IMO.

You say they have the same offset, but what is the offset? That is what determines what will and wont fit.

Stock offset is 42-55mm. I am going with 18x8 225 40, offset is 45. They will, fit I met a guy with the same setup.

Stock offset is +55, not 42-55.

You will most likely have to trim your bumper tabs with that width and offset.
