Tire Profile

Any suggestion or opinion on new tire size 215/55/17 on 03 TL-S. I am hoping 55 profile would give me a little soft ride and over potholes.

Thanks much.

the tire will be larger, thus your speedo will be off by 3.3% - it will be 3.3% slow

http://www.miata.net/garage/tirecalc.html

plus I really doubt it will make a difference in ride quality.

The extra 5% won't make a big difference.

Go with the factory size, 215/50/17, and choose from the Touring tires. Those are designed for comfort.

Question

On my 2002 TL-P, I have the origional 205/60 16's on them. When I replace these with new rubber I was going to go with Bridgestone Touranza's 225/55 16's, will this affect the speedometer?

Never Mind....

Doooh!!!! Answered my own question with the Miata link. I will be 0.1 MPH at 60 mph, I think that is within acceptable limits.

Yep, stay away from anything that says performance because the higher the performance, the harder the sidewall construction, and the bumpier the ride is. Also
try not to over-inflate the tires to avoid rough rides.

Thank you all for the inputs. I will probably stay with the factory size 215/50/17. I am just wondering if anyone out there has experienced with 215/55/17.
