Those with tokico Illuminas

Those of you who have them. If you had to buy shocks again would you still get these or is it worth paying the extra $ for Konis?

I love them and I would buy them again in a heartbeat.

Koni's are stiffer but i keep mine set to 1 - front and 3 - rear and they are stiff enough.

I can't imagine what bone jarring ride I would have on setting 5

I just got mines installed about a week ago with H&R sports. Did you guys notice any squeaking noises? I'll see when I have time so I can bring it back to the shop.

I have the setting at 3 for both fronts and rears. The rides like stock but a little bit stiffer.

Oh yes the bumping around has gotten annoying. I wonder what the 2 in the front 3 in the rear will feel like?

I've got them (set at 2 f/b) and they're good, but I can't compare to Koni. I wouldn't say the ride is like stock suspension, but there's no way a lowered car is going to ride like stock..the ride is pretty good though.

You can get them for about $360 shipped on ebay. That's the cheapest I've ever seen.

whats the deal with the stiffness? lets say the rear is on the highest stiffness. does that mean it wont bounce around as much?

stiffness controls the rebound, so when u hit a bump, how fast the strut will respond to it.

I think switching them to 2 would be smoother. I had my fronts on 2 and they felt good. Just need to take by back seat out to change the rears to 2

ok this may be a dumb question (thats what this place is for though!)...you guys are talking about shocks or struts? what exactly is the difference? I thought everyone was talking about shocks (that you can adjust) but then Dark DJ mentioned struts...that got me all thinking. thanks all.

cause my stock shocks have 84k on them and the past 15k have been with the Comptech springs. They are probably still fine, but I would like to get a shock that I can adjust because the ride is kinda getting to me and I would like a softer ride - I never plan on taking this car to a road race or anything so I dont really need a really stiff setup.

sorry for the long question!

don't worry about it being a dumb question, from my knowledge there is some difference between struts and shocks, but there is a fine line (of which i have no clue) but we are on the same page. I think the softest ride you are going to get is with stock struts, but having adjustable struts does allow you do have reduce the rebound of your suspension (what i call the 'boing' factor) with the stiffer setup, the car will react quicker to a bump and not bounce up and down as much (think caddilac) which is what i am going for. hope that helps
