Soo happy

I won some TL-S rims on ebay for only $405!! Soo happy as I was looking for these for the longest time. My question is, would 215/45/17 87H tires fit on them fine? I know its a low profile tire, but what is generally recommended?

215/45 tires means your speedo will be way off. Oh, and judging by your sig, you're not dropped yet...

Can you say "4x4"?

If you decide to go for those tires, get the springs ASAFP.

Just a heads up.

^ Ah, im gonna end up getting 215/50/17's, the 215/45/17's would only throw the speedo off by 3.3%, but I dont wanna deal with that so I may as well go with OEM. Dont worry, ill get the springs before I put the wheels on H&R Sports would give about a 1-2 finger gap all around?

Also, how do you lowered folks change your oil? ARe you still able to ride up on ramps with the OEM front lip?

With springs you will not have to really worry about bottoming out.

I'm saying the shorter sidewall with stock ride height will exacerbate the already large wheel/fender gap making it look jacked up like a 4x4. The gap in the front would probably be like 6 fingers.

Shouldn't be much, if at all; that's the correct 18" tire size.

By the way, if I'm looking at the right auction, looks like you won CL-S wheels, not TL-S. Can't go wrong with the 215/50/17 93v, though some have gone with 225/50/17, which gives a very small increase in diameter.

i wonder if running smaller tires on stock rims will give you better acceleration?

I know that your top end will not be as fast since your diameter is smaller

Here are some specs of the tires. These are just estimate.

215-50-17 Stock (25.5 inches)

225-45-17 (25.0 inches)

235-45-17 (25.4)

I would personally go with 235-45-17 if its Type S wheels.

Type-S wheels aren't wide enough for 235s.

I think PiZaul got the CL-S wheels. Those are wide enough for 235.

I checked a bunch of 235/45s on tirerack, you really should be at least 7.5" wide.

Just another heads up.

Just the opposite; running smaller diameter tires will give you a reduced gearing ratio effect.

I know that 235's require 7.5 but there are few guys that put 235's on Type S wheels and NO PROBLEM.

Gray, I think you may be looking at the wrong auction. Winning bidder was (XzIpK), which was me. I know there was another auction going with CL-S rims.

I know we cant post ebay links, but maybe there are acceptions?

Here is the auction I won
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...RK%3AMEWA%3AIT

I just got them today, and to think of it, the guy never specified which car they were off of. I think they are TL-S wheels, gotta measure the diameter I guess. Now im a bit confused, if they are TL-S wheels, whats the best tire to go with? I was just about ready to order 215/50/17 but wanna make sure if there is anything better than that.

I can't tell from the auction pics but TL-S wheels are flat and CL-S wheels kind of bulge out a bit where the spokes meet the rim. Look on the inside of one of the spokes and if it says 17"x6.5" you have TL-S wheels, 17"x7" you have CL-S wheels.

I think they may be CL-S rims then, gotta come home and look on the inside again. Since they stick out a bit more, this wont cause rubbing issues would it? (I dont think so, but just wanna make sure).

Those are CL-S wheels. You can tell because there is no "lip" on the outer rim. But it should work fine with no rubbing. And I believe 215/50/17 are the oem size regardless of TL-S or CL-S wheels.

TL-S wheel: http://www.wheelcollision.com/wccpix/71719.jpg
CL-S wheel: http://www.wheelcollision.com/wccpix/71715.jpg

Very minor difference. If you look at the top of the outer edge of the wheel in the TL-S pic, you'll see the "lip", whereas on the CL-S, the outer rim is flat.

^Ah, thanks for pointing that out. I guess thats a + for me, the .5" extra should grip the road a tad bit better. I'll put a order in for some 215/50/17's soon. With H&R Sports, how much of a finger gap would I have all around? I dont wanna slam it, but dont want the 4x4 look. Everyone seems to be happy with these springs, but I didnt really see any pics of people with TL-S/CL-S with H&R Sports.

Arite, one more question, would 225/50/17's fill up the gap a bit more over the 215's? I see that H&R Sports provide a overall 2 finger gap all around with OEM Tires, which is what I pretty much want, but a 1.5 finger gap would be perfect for me.
