Rotors impact driver
i am tryin to change my brake pads and rotors (front only) and i was told i needed to used an impact driver to remove the rotors.
Is an impact driver an electrical or air power tool or is it something else?
Can i remove the rotors any other way?
How do i remove the rotors?
any help or ideas would be great.
thanks in advance.

02 TLS SSM - Hi Oh Silvr!
Impact Driver is a hand tool
I first started using an impact driver on my dirt bike when I had to change the side cover after a wreck. It is a metal bar about 6" long with a ratchet mechanism on the end with a bit opening to place the screwdriver bit. They come with phillips and flat blade bits.
There are 2 settings on the impact driver; one to loosen (left) and one to tighten (right). Set the impact driver to loosen with the phillips bit on and place on the screw. While holding the impact driver on top of the screw with your left hand, use a hammer with your right hand on the end of the impact driver. The mechanism drives the screwdriver in and to the left slightly breaking the lock.
Hold the impact driver firmly on the screw and give in 2 or 3 solid, aka hard blows and BINGO you've unfastened the screw.
You should be able to pick up the impact driver at any auto supply or discount hand tool store in your area. About $20.
The first time I used mine was in 1970..........
