8.5" to begin with a a bit too wide for 2nd gen.
There is such a thing as too much offset. With this combo the wheel inboard measurement would increase by over 1.1" and that's alot! Add the increased width of the wider tire and you're looking at over 1.5". Reach over the tire and feel how much room you got between the shock tower and top of the tire. An additional 1.5" is not going to be there.

The 19x8 +55 should be fine. The recomended is 19x8 +50 so those wheels will sit a little more into the wheel well and you will have no rubbing issues whatsoever. Go with 235/35/19 series tires. I have 19x8 +49 with 235's and I had to cut the fender tab.

What I mean is that a higher offset pushes the wheel into the car more. So your wheel will sit in around 6 mm more then my wheel. Which is barely nothing. I think I shaved off about 5 mm from the fender Tab. So by you getting a higher offset you won't have to deal with that. It will still look pretty much flush.
