Rim Repair? Is it worth it?

I got some curb checks from my dad driving my car one day... It's not really all that bad but to know that your wheels got checks on em drives me nuts every morning i get in my car for work...

well my real question is...

1) is it really worth the money to get it fixed?

2) will repairing it change the look or color of the rims?

3) anyone that lives in houston got their rims repaired before? If "yes" where at?

Thanks,
Chabooky

JPTL-S had one of his hyper silver Inspyres repaired and it came out pretty good. I guess it all depends on how much they charge to repair it and how much a new wheel would cost. You could even see about getting one more wheel and keeping one of the curbed ones as a full size spare if you can fit it in the trunk.

Unless the structural integrity of the wheel is in question, in almost all cases they can be repaired. I would check out their work before dropping them off.

like i said... go to SABS. they'll check out your rims for free and give you an estimate. i know they do good work cause they've been around for years and EVERYONE in houston, including most dealerships, bring their rims to this place. but if you're still scared, just drop by and talk to them. its a very great place and family run.

Yes, defintely check out the place first and ask to see examples of their work. The place I went to was suggested to me by a fellow AcuraZine member. All in all I ended up paying just under a $100 to repair a two inch scratch near the valve stem. To give you a cost breakdown, it ran 70 bucks for the repair (sand, prime, repaint, clear coat) and another 20 bucks for mounting and balancing. I was surprised at how they close they were at matching the original wheel paint color; you can barely tell there was any damage there.

Just as a point of cost reference for you, the guy who recommended the place to me had a set of G-Games wheels that he had curbed. It ran him approx 70 bucks to repair the damage if I remember correctly.

So if this place mentioned above provides free estimates, then it wouldn't hurt to stop by and find out.
