I have a torn boot at the bottom of the front driverside strut tower that I need to replace. I've been getting a rattkling sound from the front end for a while now and I want to stiffen up the suspension. Will replacing my bushings make a big difference? If so what bushings should I replace and what is the best brand to get(Moog?). Is it difficult to replace bushings? I am handy, but do not have any suspension experience really. I'm learning now and want to learn more. Any assistance you fellas can provide is welcomed.

The rattling sound from front end is probably the stabilizer link. Cheap to buy and easy to change.

what boot are you talking about. Are you talking about the lower ball joint?

Yes please take a picture of which boot you are talking about. There are no boots on the strut tower. The closest boot would be on the upper ball joint which is mounted on the front upper control arm.

bump

So, I have this rattle in the front suspension. Sounds like a plastic ball in an aluminum can, sort of like popcorn, very rapid. Any ideas?

Would that be this stablizer link (is that the same as an end link?) or a ball joint?

Stabilizer link is also referred to as a sway bar. Put it up on a hoist, and see if it's firm or if it's loose. It should be firm. It looks like a half inch diameter metal rod which is about 8" long, connecting the drive shaft to the spring i think. It's hard to tell which of the two are the problem making the noise so change them both.

My guess is that parts are about $30 each and labour is about 30 minutes to change both front stabilizer links.
