Raising TL Rear End

I have a 1999 Acura TL. I bought after market 18" wheels. The problem I am having is that the rear tires rub when the rear end dips. I would like to raise and perhaps tighten the springs/suspension system to minimize the rear dipping thus preventing the tire rubbing.

What recommendations do any of you have for me?

your problem is the wheels, they do not fit correctly, the TL stands pretty tall stock, why would you wanna raise even further?

The problem is that the offset of the rim is too low. You can try to see where its rubbing and look into cutting the tabs or maybe having the fenders rolled. I wouldnt try to lift or change the rear suspension.

I agree with everyone else. This is being approached from the wrong end. If the rims are not that far off in offset, maybe you can roll the fenders, trim the bumper, etc.

Making your rear suspension (which is already high), higher, or so stiff it doesn't compress is going to make the car look, and more importantly handle like crapp.

If the rims are really wrong for the car, you're better off selling them, and getting something that does.

Thanks Everyone

Thanks everyone for your input. However, after reading your comments, I believe that the wheels are the problem and should be returned then replaced. Do any of you have a wheel vendor recommendation? I bought my wheels and tires at Discount Tire Direct: MB Wheels: Tucson (model).

Perhaps I need to buy a wheel model that you know will not give me this problem.

The key is to get a wheel with the correct offset. Find out what offset they sold you.

What is the offset?

Do you know what the offset is? If not, where do I get the information without having to go to the dealer?

offset number determines how far the wheel will stick out. our oem wheel offset is 55+. A lower number will make the wheel stick out further.

7.5" +45 offset is what you got. Trim the rear bumper tabs and you'll be golden.
