Unless you are quoted $400 including tax, mounting, and balancing, there are other widely reputable brands (Kumho) that can be had for a similar price.
$400 is an okay deal for these tires. If it is higher, I would go with something else.

Actually I take it back.
I don't know which Nexen tire model your shop is selling you, but ebay has them for cheaper:

I recently bought a new set of Continental ContiSport2's on ebay for $455 shipped. So I basically paid $500 after mounting. Tirerack sells this set for $600 before shipping.
Shop around anywhere online. You'll always get better deals than local tire shops.

It can be as cheap as $10 per tire. Go to Walmart with your "loose" wheels and new tires. Walmart might charge you more if they have to take the wheels off your car. Plus you won't have to wait around for a car lift to become available, they'll usually get to you right away.

From what I heard, those tires are junk, a couple friends got them with a package deal but ended up buying new tires... I believe buying tires is a really important safety decision, hence I wouldn't buy those junkie tires, even if it was a 50-100 buck difference.

yeah the price he gave me was $407 inlcuding mounting balancing and tax. Dunno what model tho. Im tryin to decide if its worth the few dollars im gonna save with ebay, factoring in shipping and the trouble of haveing to lug the tires over to be mounted.

i've had the N3000's on my old 18's
Not the best, but not the worst. The compound is pretty soft and the road noise that is emitted from the tires isn't noticable. In the rain it sucks, in dry conditions it's decent but i wouldn't go GUN-HO on these things.
For regular driving, i think they're great for the price
But for performance, i'd get something better.
I also hate the Sidewalls on them, they're soo thick.. the 225/40/18 looks like 225/45/18
