New Tokico Illuminas Don't Extend
Just bought a set of Illuminas and, unlike other gas charged shocks I' ve owned, the don't quickly extend out when manually compressed. This is with the shocks uninstalled, just removed from the box.
Can anyone confirm that this is normal for Illuminas?
Or do I have faulty shocks?

Burning Brakes
If they were no good then I would imagine they would not come back at all.
A couple of things that come to mind:
1. Your adjustable struts could be set to the least dampened value: slow response to get back to the steady state position of the dampener.
2. Most struts won't push back very quickly to get to full extension; that is the job of the suspension spring. the strut will dampen that spring's energy so that it doesn't keep bouncing back and forth.
