Need new tires, will raising my car help treadwear?

I put new Nankang tires on the front of my car about 10,000 miles ago and one side already needs to be replaced. The inside is worn down. I've got tein coilovers on and the car is pretty low. I don't have a camber kit and I didn't get an alignment done. I plan on replacing all 4 tires in about a month with either conctiextremes or kumho asx. I'm going to get an alignment this time and I wanted to know if raising my car about an inch would keep the insides of my tires from wearing so quickly. Also if there's any suggestion on different tires or a place to get tires that would be cool too.

No, but Getting An Alignment will! Would have saved your tires from having to be replaced

LOL you just answered your own question. You should have known you were gonna waste those tires, I'm actually suprised they lasted as long as they did.

Yeh, honestly I didn't know that alignments were that important. I only had the car about a month before I replaced the front tires -- didn't know the characteristics of the car yet. I figured that if the car went down the road and didn't pull too much to either side i was in the clear. Pretty dumb on my part I guess. So raising the car about an ince wouldnt help at all? Anyone know of any places where u can pay one price and get lifetime alignments and/or tire rotations? they're so damn expensive.

You woudl still want an alignment even if you raised it some. Technically any time you mess with teh suspension you should.

And thats part of owning a car, they arent cheap to own and maintain but if done properly the car and its parts will last a long long time.
You should have an alignment done every year.

I'm definitely getting it alligned, I just wanna know if I raise it a little would it help prevent tire wear even more?

If you have an alignment and have every thing put to spec it wont matter how low or high you are you wont have uneven tire wear.

The TL has a very limited range of adjustment for camber angles. If the drop is too extremely, even an alignment job will not able to move the camber angle to within spec. In that case, a camber kit is needed.

The gen2 TL has no camber adjustment front or rear, toe adjustment only
Thats why a threaded rear control arm is installed- so you can adjust the rear camber
The rears really seem to need it if you go over 2 inch drop
If the insides of the tires wore out- there is your answer
A front camber kit replaces the ball joints with a trick adjustment plate on the new ones
Track day people will use this more than any street driver
Always align after suspension work of any kind!
Tires are expensive

You've got plenty of good advice on the suspension. If you do it right, then I would invest in serious tires. Bridgestone 960AS is my favorite. A lot of people like the Yok Advan S4 and Pilot Sport A/S but I don't think they are worth the price. IMHO, the best price/performance is the Yok Avid W4 (current setup) although others might argue for Pirelli PZero Nero M+S or ContiExtreme. Budget is definitely Kumho ASX. The AvonTech M550AS is ballpark but it's a REALLY heavy tire and every once counts when it's rotating mass!

I went with the continental contiextreme contact. I read some good reviews and hear that they're pretty good in the snow which helped my decision a lot. I'll be getting all 4 installed plus an alignment for $507 at Mavis. I thought it was a pretty good deal.

How low did you drop it? I have tein coilovers as well, initially I slammed it...went through a set of tires in less than 15K...raised it up approx. .75 inches, this last set gave me almost 25K. In addition to alignment, rotation is extremely important...Rotation and Flip helps as well (making the insides the outsides) I'm doing it every 3-4K miles. It has made a huge difference in wear. It runs around $1K every time I get a new set...so, I am trying to get as much wear as possible

may as well install the camber kit before doing alignment. alignment normally don't fix camber problems.

I'm not sure how much it's lowered. The back may be all the way down and the front maybe it could go an inch lower. Not quite sure. The back tires don't seem to be wearing quickly at all. I thought when I first bought the car that I'd need to replace the backs first but they haven't worn too prematurely. I'll try doing the rotate and flip with this set of tires depending on how expensive it is to do that. Seems like this place charges 30-35 to mount tires if u haven't bought new ones from them. If I do that, I'm 1/4 of the way to a whole new set of tires anyways so I'll see what kind of deal I can get.

As far as tires go I'd recommend contiextreme's too. I've had them on my car for a good 20k now and the treadwear is great, still tons of rubber left. I can also vouch that they handle very well in the snow for a tire that grips so well on wet and dry pavement. They are the best value IMO. Get an alignment when you get new tires and make sure you tell them that you want the facts and not just a piece of paper and a goodbye.

$70 to reverse in my area...

Mine is too low for camber kit...camber kit will push the top of tire out and will create rub. Noone in my area is willing/able to do a fender roll. Even within spec, just barely, I get uneven wear, more on the inside 1/3 of tread. Alignment done, rotation done, air pressure checked, etc...when lowered I just don't get as much wear as stock Just The price of lookin good!!
