My Mudslingin' Tires

Hi, I was wonderin' if anyone had any sugestions;
I have a 2002 type S with 225/ 40 R18 's on it, and it slings mud, pebbles, water, in a bad way, I live in Oregon and its impossible to stay outta some mud, by the end of the day it gets like an inch thick on front and back doors and my rear fenders. The tires do not rub at all, I have a full body kit (dont know if that matters or not) I'm wondering if mudflaps would help? The tires only have 3 hundred miles on em so it would really suck to have to take em off+ I dont have the stock wheels. Thank you .

You would have to go aftermarket if you're considering mudflaps, as the Acura ones won't fit with any of the body kits.

Where in Oregon do you live? I live in Hillsboro and work in Portland. Yeah, it's only gonna get wetter this winter. You hear about the major storm predicted for this weekend? It's said to be worse than that one in 1995

I live out in Falls City, its west of Salem, and yeah its real windy here right now,
I stopped by the local auto parts store and asked about flaps, the guy goes outside to "have a look" and says "nope cant help you" then starts laughing to his buddy sayin "she wants to put MUDFLAPS on that thing ha haa"...
Is there something wrong with that? someone else must've come across the same issue.

I'm sorry I have no clue what "offset" is. I'm new to all this, I have no paperwork for any of the mod's done to the car, and apparently theres quite a few.
Is there a way I can tell by the numbers on the tires? I'll click search for "offset" like people have recommended to others. Thanks

Offset is usually located on the back of the rim

http://www.yokohamatire.com/utcustom.asp

The TL has a +55. The lower the offset the more it will move the outer lip of the rim out of the wheel well. (hence causing rubbing having the tire stick out of the wheel well)

Hi again,
I finaly got the offset size its 40.
Do you know of anything I can do to stop the mudslinging?
Its starting to look like its dulling/scratching the paint.
I've got a 2002 type S, with a full body kit, tires are 225/ 40 /18 with 40 offset.
There is NO rubbing or scraping, but then I havent had anyone else in the car,
and I only weigh about 105 pounds.
thank you for any ideas you can give me.

Not much you can do other than finding a set of aftermarket mudguards. The +40 offset is much to low for your car, thus extending the wheels beyond the outer edge of the fender.
What is the width of your wheels?

how can you have 02' TL-S wheels that are +40 offset? that's not possible.

all u can do is make some mudguards or something or just drive slower.

my tires are 225/40/ R-18's I went to the manufactures web site they said the offset on the wheels are 40 . I bought the car with these wheels already on it. Is there another number I should be looking for besides the 225/40/R18 40 offset?

Check the width of the wheels (e.g. 7", 7.5", 8")
